Let's see.
McGwire admitted using andro, and when he stopped using, his career went downhill. However, andro wasn't illegal or against MLB rules.
Bonds refuses to admit a thing, and lets his friend, Greg Anderson rot in jail to avoid implicating Bonds. Everyone from Victor Conte to Jason Giambi to Gary Sheffield has implicated Bonds as a steroid user. Anabolic steroids have legitimate medical uses, but are otherwise illegal and were even before baseball said no to them.
As we saw in '98, McGwire's father is a huge man. As we are all more than well aware, Bobby Bonds was not a particularly large man.
Here's the single biggest difference, between them, though, and the only one that counts in this context. For the whole of his career, McGwire treated the fans and the media well. For the whole of his career, Bonds has been a miserable so-and-so with the fans and the media. If you don't think that that makes a difference, ask Jack Morris.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with race, and anyone who claims otherwise is fear mongering.

Barry Bonds is Steriod Man, Mark McGwire is Steriod man, and Sammy Sosa is Steriod Man. I could go on and on with players. All these players are cheaters and should be kicked out of the greatest game ever created.
Barry Bonds is a science experiment. He didn't just mistakinly take some Cream. His head size grew, his feet grew, his hands grew. Unless you have giantism this doesn't happen after the age of 13-15 years old unless you are on HGH.
To answer your question, yes Mark McGwire would be bashed, but he doesn't want to talk about the past.

McGwire would get the same treatment if he were chasing the record.....he cheated, Bonds cheated......hello thier cheaters. McGwire was bashed by the Sportswriters when they voted for the Hall of Fame......he got his dont worry. Whats great about the whole thing is that guys like Griffey Jr, Jim Thome, Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez and so on look like so much better players now than bonds, mcgwire, palmerio, giambi, and should be in the Hall of Fame rather than these turds.

Yes, I would. Barry Bonds could be green and purple for all I care.
And he didn't "use cream for a few years" - he used "the cream" and "the clear," one of which is a strong steroid and the other a mask to cover its use. And by all accounts he also used HGH, along with some others.
I don't think Big Mac should be in the HOF, either, but I think you're trying to play the race card without first examining the attitudes of those on here. Assuming that we'd all cheer for McGwire because he's white makes me think that you might be the one with racial issues.

Mark McGwire will probably never be in the hall of fame, and will be known as a steroid user all his life, but Barry Bonds most likely will be in the hall of fame and be known as the person who broke Henry Aaron's record, your question actually brings out reverse discrimination into the picture,You picked the wrong man for comparison.

Probably yes. I say probably for two reasons. One, he admitted to using andro. I don't know if andro alone could account for his physique, and it was allowed while he played. Either way, at least he was man enough to admit it (Before clamming up in front of Congress). The second reason I may not bash him is because he had power his entire career. Unlike Bonds, he didn't go from a 30-40 HR guy to a 70 HR guy overnight. He set the rookie record with 49. If he was juicing, he was doing it all along (Not saying he couldn't have been, just that it wasn't so obvious).

Absolutely I would too.
McGwire, more likeable than Bonds, but his whole "I am not here to talk about the past" crap was his white flag saying "don't make me say it". he was retired, there was no future, there was no present, only past and he didn't want to talk about it.
McGwire, sans steroids, does not have the #'s to get into the Hall of Fame, where Bonds, sans steroids, still does.
If I had a vote, I would still give one to Bonds, then I would kick him in the tiny nuts for negatively affecting his great (at the time) career.

Barry deserves to be based. There is ample evidence to suggest he has done steroids. Besides, Mark McGwire was a nice guy and played to the media. Barry is a jerk, so he invites the bashing upon himself.

McGwire is retired and the media still bashes him. It would have been just as brutual if McGwire was chasing Aaron right now. Too bad Griffey couldn't stay healthy, he'd be the one chasing 755.
That being said, A Rod will probably break whatever record Bonds sets.

If you believe that Barry Bonds only used a cream than you're just hiding your head in the sand. If the public knew about McGwire the same way they know about Bonds, he would be treated the same way. Cheating is cheating...period!
