I am 37 weeks pregnant and I take 100mg of Zoloft once a day, it was prescribed by my OB and I haven't had any problems. I also took it when I was pregnant with my first daughter and she turned out just fine. Your doctor won't prescibe you something that is going to hurt you or your baby. You'll be fine, don't stress about it.

I took Zoloft during the last month of my second pregnancy and for several months while breastfeeding. At the time, it was one of only 3 antidepressants approved for pregnancy and breastfeeding. That wasn't due to testing showing they were "safe", only a lack of evidence that they were "unsafe". It did help with my mood swings, but my son was very fussy and restless. He has always been an emotionally high needs child and developmentally delayed. Despite what I have read since about possible problems with Zoloft, I can't really say these issues are related. He shows signs of autism and we are looking into further testing (he is 5 now). I have an uncle who believes he has Aspbergers, so its just as likely this is something that runs in my family. Even if I could do it over again, I'm not sure what to do differently. If you truly need an antidepressant, there aren't a lot of other options. You need to take care of yourself. If you are seriously considering going off Zoloft, talk to your doctor and wean off slowly. Also, talk to your family since you will need to be around understanding and supportive people to help you deal with things. Good luck. :)

Your doctor is best qualified to answer, but if you have two docs, like a OBGYN and a shrink, make sure they are both up to speed on all meds and your mental state. I have heard of many people taking Zoloft during a pregnancy, but I have never seen one keep the Klonipin[aka Clonazapam] one I happen to take that has pretty serious warnings about pregnant or nursing mothers. Good news is that there are many simular drugs that are just as effective but are very low risk. Only your doctor can say for sure and don't be afraid to question him. I always call my pharmacy when I have a doubt because they are more informed about the drugs than the docs. Congrats and best wishes for a easy time and a baby that will let you sleep once in awhile!

I'm still taking Klonopin. I've been on it for 4 years for anxiety and panic attacks. I was on 12mg a day. They lowered my dose to 8mg a day and so it's been fine. You never want to stop a drug cold Turkey especially a benzo or antidepressant. If your Dr. doesn't agree with you taking it and you feel you NEED it, tell them that. Klonopin is long acting benzodiazapam, acting a lot longer than other drugs in it's class like Ativan, Xanax, Valium, etc... See if you can lower your dose safely. The first week is a little hard depending on how long you've been taking it. There's usually ways to work around it=) Good luck!!

i would ask your doctor if i were you,
I take klonopin 2 mg per day,
ALthough i am a guy, so no i not pregnant,
I was reading some of the answers, one person wrote "your doctor would never precribe you something harmful, AHHH, Always question your doctor about possible side effects when taking a drug, I did before i took this one,
I have stopped tking it cold turkey and i found myself drinking pop all of the time as a substitiute to the drug, then i could never sleep, so i went back to the meds.
but i'd ask your doctor, you have a very valid reason to do so.

Its really up to your doctor. My doctor actually tried to START me on Zoloft when I got pregnant again (lots of family drama) but I was able to handle it. So, speak to your doc about your concerns. Best of luck.

What are you taking them for?
Bi-polar? Depression?
Who is prescribing them? A psychiatrist? MD?
I am bi-polar and I am 9 weeks pregnant, my Dr which was a psychiatrist and I talked and decided it was better for me and the baby to leave me on my medicines.
