why isn't a lime called a green or a lemon called a yellow?
Maybe I'll just have a big bunch of purples.

The orange was named first, after that people starting getting creative. lol

well i guess lemon stands for sour and ... im not sure about the lime or the big bunch of purples a orange is called that becuz its orange im not very smart ! lol *.*

In English the colour was called yellow-red before anyone knew about the fruit. They already had the words green and yellow.

probably because when they came to name the oranges, they ran out of names to use, and just decided to use the colour of the skin instead!
Limes and lemons probably got the last two official names!
Btw...do you think that watermelon would grow in water????

Yeah but you have to remember a bunch of purples could also be a bunch of greenies too.

actually.. you brought up a funny subject lol... me and my friends were at a buffet restaraunt once.. and one of their cakes labels just said "orange" and it was orange.. so for the rest of our meal we were saying i think ill try some green, maybe some brown. oh the red looks good! lol oh and it was the most disgusting "orange" ive ever eaten in my life so that made it even more entertaining.. and watermelon would be a gred :P

Maybe because bananas are yellow.
And there are grapes that are green.
