all day ive been feeling these pains on and off, it feels like bad trapped wind and then it goes, only to come back again. My mum told me that it isnt contractions because the pains builds up, levels out then goes. Was just wondering if all contractions build up like that. im 38 weeks tomorrow and confused. it isnt trapped wind, but feels similar and doesnt build up, just the sharp pain then its gone.
thanks

Well I suppose everyone is different, but for me, the real deal felt like bad cramps that came at regular intervals and did not stop if I changed position or took a walk. Im sure you know that the Braxon Hicks contractions dont hurt and sort of come and go as they please at 38 weeks you probably have these all the time now. If you start to feel cramp like pain with these and they are 5 minutes apart for an hour you will need to call your dr.

That is exactly what contractions feel like, BUT possibly You are experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braxton_Hicks) It is very common. My wife had them with all 3 of my kids, they actually help your body prepare for labor... just practice relaxing and breathing deeply when you have them!

i had a lot of braxton hicks contractions and when you finally go into labor you'll know the difference, real contractions are like nothing else you have ever felt and extremely painful

i have had three kids and all my contractions where different with one. If they come about every 5 minutes i would call the dr. try walking them off to. it could be false laber. me personally i knew each time when i was in labor because it hurt like hell and felt like shooting pains. but like i said call the dr make sure.

early pre-labor contractions are generally short. Mine were never painful, but just uncomfortable.
