I just got a 22" widescreen Samsung monitor, and I've noticed that 90% of web pages only take about half the width of the screen (and they are centered with lots of free gray space to the sides). Is there an extension or anything for Firefox that will allow me within a single window to have two web sites open at the same time, kind of like a split screen?

In response to Ron M's remark, this monitor's highest supported resolution is 1680x1050, and that's the one I'm using right now. Anything else (at a lower resolution) is at a worse quality.

Most web sites are designed to be displayed at a commonly used resolution, like 800x600, which leaves you with all that dead space on a widescreen monitor.

I'm not aware of any plug-in that would allow you to display another web page in that space because that void is in reality part of the page being displayed. You'd have to just open two browser windows, and move and size them so that they are side by side.

I think you have your resolution set wrong. Go to Settings, right click the desk top and the click Properties and then Settings. Set your resolution to your new monitor's resident resolution. Wide screen monitors usually run somewhere around 1440 X 900. If the setting that your monitor requires isn't available then run the CD that came with your monitor. It a worst case, you may need to install a better video card that supports this resolution.
