I believe the media blows everything Favre says, or anything people around Favre says, way out of proportion. He's unhappy the Packers didn't get Moss. So what? He spoke his peace because someone from the media asked him about it. It's his right to do that. But of course, every media outlet looking for the next big story blows it up into a huge deal again. I have to laugh anytime I hear the "latest news" about Favre because it never seems to hold any water when all is said and done.
Favre's legacy as one of the greatest QBs of all time is intact and always will be. Give the guy a break.

The only thing tarnishing his legacy is the poor numbers, especially interceptions, over the last couple years. Not the whining.
He's got legitimate gripes against the organization. A big reason for the bad stats ( and griping) is the fact that he has had NOBODY to throw to for a couple years, and the Packers kept promising him that if he came back they would get him some help. Once Javon Walker, Ahman Green & Bubba Franks all got hurt around the same time, he was dome for. There were no legitimate number two guys to step up (or number 3 &4 guys @ r.b.)
Everyone knows now about the promise of trading for Moss and the promise of drafting offense this year, that the Packers have not followed through on. So yeah, if they promised these things to Brett Farve (the best QB they have at this time, & face of their franchise) in order to come back, he should be pissed off about it.
The only mark against Favre is when he came out publicly about Javon Walker's contract a couple years ago. He should have kept his mouth shut about that. Then after the contract, he gets hurt & they let him walk after that-getting nothing in return, something else that is a legitimate gripe.

I agree with Elias. He does have some legit beefs, but he has also put his two cents where it didnt belong. And for those that argue that he has the right to involve himself in situations he does not belong because he's played 16 years in the NFL, that's BS. If Doug Flutie had something to say about Deoin Branch's situation two season ago, would you say he had that right?
Of course, in Wisconsin, Favre can never tarnish his legacy. Even two years ago when he had his worst season ever and threw 29 ints, it wasnt his fault (according to Packer Fan), it was the talent around him. And who could ever forget the 4th and 26. Everyone in cheeseland blamed the defense for losing that game (which the D definitely should have shouldered alot of the blame), but nobody in cheeseland cared that what really lost the game came 3 minutes later in overtime when Favre threw up that ball for grabs instead of taking the sack.
Bottom line, Favre is God in Packer country - his legacy will never be tarnished there. And that's all that matters.
He's a 3 time MVP, SB winner, has only one losing season and will soon have thrown the most Td's. Almost impossible to tarnish that even if you're not a Packer fan.

I wouldn't say he's been whining for years. The main thing he did was want Moss this year. And the media is the ones who said he wanted to be traded. All he said was they should have tried hard to get Moss. I think what makes Favre's name go through so much is the media makes such a big deal about him and his retirement. If the media wouldn't speculate so dang much it wouldn't such a big deal. But I don't think it will tarnish his legacy. After he retires they'll show his highlights and after a few years nobody will remember all the BS. Who Dat has brought up the best points so far. It's the GMs job to build a TEAM not please an aging QB. They built an expensive team a few years ago and they had to clear the salary cap. Thompson has done a great job. Once Favre retires the Packer fans will realize that.

To HIM he has some valid gripes, but Ted Thompson is content on building through the draft and not building his team to suit Brett Favre's needs. No NFL GM who's intelligent would build around an aging star player in the twilight of his career. But to answer the question about his legacy being tarnished, if his drug problem didn't tarnish it, him wanting better players around to help him win wont.

Favre has some valid gripes, but the same way he told Walker to think of the team, is the same thing he should do. He is ruining his legacy by be a whining punk. He really should have retired two year ago, when he was good.

Favre isn't whining. He was asked a question and answered it honestly. He was convinced that the Packers would get him a playmaker to throw to or hand off to and ended up dissappointed again with a rookie halfback and the possible return of Koren Robinson. When you ask for steak and get hamburger, you'd voice some concerns as well I'm sure.

No, i do no longer think of he's tarnished his legacy in any respect. We, as followers, have come to anticipate this from all athletes. a minimum of he's no longer on steroids or HGH. He easily performed nicely final season until he strengthen arm hassle. If he can stay healthful i think of he will do nicely. The Vikings are a particularly respectable group so he would desire to be what they'd desire to take the subsequent step.

Yes he does. The front office needs to go out and gets some skill positions like Randy Moss. Who the hell is Ruvell Martin and Carlyle Holiday and Vernand Morency. These guys are 1,2,3 on the depth chart for the Packers. His gripes are valid and he should just quit and leave the team hanging. Aaron Rodgers, you suck ***!

If I were Brett Favre I would be pissed off as well. I mean the last couple of years they've practically begged the guy to come back and play for them but haven't done much to help take the load off his shoulders. I mean he's a good player but he can't do it all by himself.
