Im finishing up some homework before i study for my exams. Could somebody be kind enough to give me the answers to these two problems?

1. The distance a body falls varies directly as the square of the time that it falls. If it fallls 972 meters in 18 seconds how far will it fall in 2 seconds?

2. Find the equation of the line that passes through the points
(-4, -2) and (7, -5)

I love you guys very much! ^^

For the first one, you go 972 over 18 = x over 2. Cross multiply, then solve for x.

For two, isn't there an equation x1-y1 over x2-y2 or something? That is what you would use.

Hope that helps!! It's been a while, but that's what I remember...

Professing your love to us on Yahoo! for giving you answers to YOUR homework won't make more people want to give you the answers...but anyway lol...

1. First of all, a body?! Ahh ok lol...it will fall 108 metters in 2 seconds. The easy way to solve this would be divide 18 by 2 and get 9. Divide 972 by 9 and you get 108. Ta-da!

2. First, find the slope. -3/11 is your slope. Pick two points - I picked (-4, -2). Then it looks like this:
-3/11 = y+4/x+2
Now, cross multiply and you get...
-11y - 44 = 3x + 6
-11y = 3x + 50
Divide by -11 to get y.
y = -3/11x + -50/11
Hope this helps! ;-) Hope this is right, too lol...kind of rushing but...

I do believe the first one would go like this,
the square of 18 sec is 324, and 972/324sec is 3.
so the square of 2 is 4 secs, and 4*3 is 12, so it should be 12 meters.
cant help with the second one though.

1. I'm pretty sure it's 108 m/s...no, wait, I don't know this one...sorry...
2. y = -3/11 - 34/11

1. Hint....

972 = 18 squared x 3

so....

D (distance) = 2 squared x 3

2. -4x-2y = 7x - 5y
