You got Len Bias, "The Goat" Manigault, "Pee Wee" from Harlem, and Connie Hawkins. Len Bias would have played with an exiting Larry Bird and a bound to be great Reggie Lewis. The Celtics would have won numerous Champions with these guys. The Goat was rumored to have had jumping ability high enough to take coins off the top of the back board. Also, he was a prolific scorer. He was more talented in his position than Kareem during that era. "Pee Wee" Kirkland was a Rucker legend who had a desire to make money the fast way so he sold drugs instead of pursuing a basketball career. Finally, Connie Hawkins. Although he made it to the NBA, he arrived well after his prime because no team would take him because of his involvement in point shaving in college. In his prime, he would have won several MVP's and Championships with most teams.
Honarable mentions: Ralph Sampson (injuries), Bernard King (injuries), and Christian Leatner (attitude).

Len Bias was compared to MJ but with a better jumper and was set to apprentice behind Bird, Mchale and Walton under Aurbach's hand, but a coke OD made sure we never saw him play an NBA game.
More talented that Minor and more of a tragedy.
The most recent case has to be Shaun Livingston. Set to have a breakout year and considered by many in the know to be an potential All-Star. Now if he's able to come back he will never be the same.

Pistol Pete was probably the best college player of all time, but when he got to the nba he suffered from alcohol abuse, depression, and injuries. I watched an old game of his when he played for the jazz. He was healthy (something rare for him) and he dropped 68 points (with no 3pt line) against the Knicks (phil jackson was on the knicks team...it looked very funny). It was amazing. He was knocking down every type of shot from all over the court. It was kind of sad though... seeing a brief glimpse of what the Pistol could have been. You might say that he "made it big", but he could have been the best ever.

There is no question I have this answered correctly:
Arvydas Sabonis. Not only do some NBA guys in the know think he was the best passing big man of all time...even with his injury riddled body he played with in the NBA. When he was younger he was ATHLETIC. He could run and jump with anyone.
He is the one player I would love to have seen in his prime be able to play in the NBA. But due to polital reasons, we didn't see him until he was washed up physically.
It reminds me of seeing pictures of Babe Ruth in the 30's. That's all we see because that's all we have access to.

coleman wasa former all star with career averages of 16 and 9 and scored 20+ in 3 straight seasons to go with 11 rebounds. He made it plenty big
Biggest let down was Christian Leattner who was considered one of the top college players all time.

It was almost Steve Jackson. Believe me it was not a chance in hell for him to go to college.
Len Bias is a good one. Randolph Childress was dissapointing There were a few bust in the nba like Sam Bowie (bit by the injury bug).
