He presided over the longest economic expansion in 35 years, he brought tough legislation to the board on crime and managed to be the first presidential administration to cause it to go down, and he was the only president under which this country saw a downturn in the national debt.
So my challenge to you is to tell me what is so bad about Clinton without mentioning the sex scandal.

Once again, this is without bringing up the sex scandal.

That includes:
Having sex in the oval office.
Lying before the grand jury.
Getting impeached.

Someone questioned the validity of my assertions of what Clinton did so let me clarify.

Longest economic expansion = More taxation of the wealthy.
Policy regarding crime = More cops on the streets and THE BRADY BILL
Downturn in the defecit, you can speculate all you want as to why Clinton can't take credit, but under Reagan and Bush the debt skyrocketed and under Clinton it went down, but then Bush Jr. came in and now its skyrocketed again.

Not a thing; if he could run for a third term, I'd vote for him! I think he's too smart to put himself through that crap again, though ;-)

1. "He presided over the longest economic expansion in 35 years"

And which one of his policies were responsible for that?

2. "He brought tough legislation to the board on crime and managed to be the first presidential administration to cause it to go down".

Which tough legislation would that be? I know he called for more police (which I support him for), but the funding only lasted for 1-2 years. Once the funding was cut, so were the police, unless towns wanted to hold the bag.

3. "He was the only president under which this country saw a downturn in the national debt."

With the largest tax increase in history, plus being in office during an upswing in the economy, which was more of a matter of timing.

4. "What is so bad about Clinton without mentioning the sex scandal."

Sort of like saying, "What is so bad about cancer except the horrible, slow and painful death?" Committing perjury while in office is not exactly what I'd consider Presidential caliber.

He discreadited the office of the president to a degree - though I place more blame on the Republican Congress for dragging out the scandal and making a completely unjustified attempt at impeachment.

He also royally screwed up in Somalia, and his weak response to escalating terrorist attacks by Al Qaeda (starting with the WTC in 1993), set the stage for the ultimate escalation: 9/11.

I also don't like it when presidents try to take creadit (or thier opponents try to place blame) for the economy. The president has virtually nothing to do with the economy. Carter was stuck with a crappy economy because of prior government policies that took decades to do thier damage. Reagan took credit for beating inflation, even though it was the federal reserve - and OPEC - that actually made most of the difference. Clinton presided over a bubble economy that would have inflated no matter who was in office.

"So my challenge to you is to tell me what is so bad about Clinton without mentioning the sex scandal."

Don't you think it's very telling that you have to exclude the one thing that revealed the most about this man's lack of character, honesty, decency, and respect for the Oval Office?

The fact that you're trying to shut the door on BJ (under my desk) Clinton's sad, tawdry affair with a young intern (hmmm....wasn't it the Democrats who just jumped on Foley for an "intern" scandal?) is a testament to what this man's legacy is.

BTW - He lied about the tax cut. He lied, and lied, and lied. Then lied again. I can't count the number of times he lied, and then increased taxes. He's a lying liar, so the Grand Jury Perjury came as no shock to me.

Alot of Conservatives are resentful for some reason, as they compare the Clinton administration to the Bush administration and see that under Clinton we had a good economy, low gas prices, a more diplomatic approach and the list goes on. I think they answer how good a job he did when the only thing they come up with is the Lewinsky scandal.

Clinton's mistakes (that i am not supposed to mention) pretty much hurt him personally. His "extra curriculars were an embarrassment to himself.

He did not lie to the American people about WMD, he does not confuse Sadam Husein with Osama Bin Laden. He did not make his oil company crony friends rich at the expense of every citizen while giving them huge tax breaks.

Bush is an embarrassment to out whole Country.

you took the meat out of the sandwich. he was an alright guy, very persuasive and silky smooth in his speaking. he was really good at talking you into kind of a hypnotic trance where he would spout B.S. figures that supposedly support what ever it was he was telling you, basically he lied a lot. he appointed Janet Reno, I think that was one of his worst moves. she was so busy killing innocent US citizens i.e. Branch Davidians, Ruby Ridge, that corporations were committing fraud left and right and creating a false economy and stock market by misreporting income and profits. all this caused everything to come tumbling down right after slick Willie slid out of the White house. that's my story.

I hold him responsible for the election of the worst president in US history, his successor, George W. Bush. The backlash from him not being able to keep it in his pants blinded many, many rational voters into voting for a complete moron who's only qualification was that he only screwed his wife. Now we're all paying the price.
