Hi!
If I go with my family reunion memories, I'd say that it's along the same lines as hunting, in that it falls under several different disciplines... It's a sport. It's a necessity if you can't pay for someone else to fart on your behalf. It's a male bonding thing... Especially in a crowded car with the windows rolled up, or a commuter train, where the press of bodies makes it impossible for your victims to escape. It's a territorial dispute indicator, (usually involving the armchair or couch in front of the TV). It's a means of ambush and subjugation. The "silent but strong and enduring" are the ones who win in the final outcome. It's a means to stun your prey. A means to express your most heartfelt opinion on a matter. A means to acquire desirable personal space. A means to convey that the romance is over. A means to obtain a moment of distraction so you can collect your thoughts. Who hasn't had a "brain fart"? It can be a profound political statement, and it's the ultimate way to express that you are comfortable in some else's company. Sport, smort... Farting is a national pastime... Feel free to "pass" it around...

If farting was a sport my daughter would make the all-star team! She may even get a scholarship to college for it! :)

Yeah, that would be interesting and really funny. Lots of different catagories with it too...Like: "silent but deadly farts", "wet farts", racing stripe farts", "weird farts", "food farts", "clothespin farts","walking while you fart farts" ...whewy.....gasolicious funny! LOL!
