I'm 36 weeks as well and at my doctor's appointment last week, he told me that she's about 7 lbs already and "she's definitely on the bigger side". Ever since then, I've been having very mild contractions, no pain at all, just tightening of the uterus and pressure, occasional sharp pains in my vaginal area. I'm beginning to think, maybe I'm further along than my doctor thinks and maybe she will be born sooner. So I've began to research different ways to dilate and induce labor. I've got all of the same basic answers that we've all heard before, such as walking, sexual intercourse, nipple stimulation (for 3 HOURS everyday!), and so forth. Anyway, the one that has caught my attention, but I'm not sure I am willing to try, is taking 2 tbsp. of Castor oil with grape soda (to dilute the taste). Even doctors say that "if you are ripe" then, this will start labor. But the down side is, that if you aren't "ripe" then this will only cause diarrhea, and this diarrhea can last for up to 6-8 hours! I've been debating on trying this, because I don't want that to happen. But then again, you may be "ripe" and this may work. If you're willing to take the risk, this would be my only recommendation, besides intercourse. Good Luck. Let me know if it works!

I am 32 weeks pregnant with my first child so I can't tell you what to do from experience but all of my friends told me to start having alot of sex and start walking for hours at a time when I get to 36 weeks. Congrats on the baby by the way. I know you are excited and ready for her to be here. I don't know why people would say anything to you about the baby having problems? My doc. said it is perfectly safe to have the baby at 36 weeks.

Hun, honestly, you could do every single thing suggested and it may not do you any good at all (except castor oil, don't try that!). My best friend was absolutely certain her baby was coming early (dilated to a 2 by 35 weeks and was having mild contractions quite frequently). Her baby arrived exactly on her due date! So, try all the things you see, but don't be surprised if they don't help. Best of luck.

I tried walking, squatting, and sex. We looked up a massage on the internet, you have someone message a certain point around your ankle for a certain amount of time. Its been a little while and I can't remember the specifics but look it up on the internet. Someone told me that eating pineapples can give you contractions. Don't let people scare you into thinking its to early, if the DR said its fine then you will be ok. By 35 weeks they are developed enough.

You are only 36 weeks pregnant and full term is 40 weeks. I have been there and understand that you want the baby born already, but there is no speeding the process up. The baby will be born when it is good and ready. I tried all the (safe) old wives tales but nothing worked. I was induced with my first and the second came 6 days late. All in good time.

I had the same issues with my daughter (now 7 weeks old) I bounced everywhere and walked everywhere. As soon as I got off of bedrest and started having contractions I kept things as normal as possible. I went walking, went to dinner (an hour before I had to go to the hospital.) I had contractions 10 minutes apart for 3 days before she came, but everyone at my school saw me bouncing all over the place. I got up and danced with my kids, etc.

There are various things you could try, none of them work in 100% of the cases, and most of them will work only if the baby is ready to come out.
I was 2 dialated for 3 weeks tried sex, walking a lot, stairs, acupanture and non worked.
Oh, and BTW the fact that the doctor she is fine still doesn't mean it wouldn't be better for her to stay inside till she is ready...

I too am going to have to say having sex can help, something in the semen increases contractions. I went into labor with my daughter about 8 hours after having sex. Also lots of walking and squating. Good Luck !!!

You can have sex to speed up dilation, the chemical in sperm softens the cervix. Also, walking will help--gravity and motion are your best friends!!
You could ask your doctor about nipple stimulation for the contractions, but it can actually make them TOO strong and be too much before you're fully dilated.
