I actually believe that we are good if only we were loved properly from birth... Sure we all have inherited somewhat of a sinful nature from our first parents but all in all, it's only those who are totally led by the nose by the evil one such as Stalin was... who are always bad through and through... as even after having been born out of sin, many men proved to be good, faithful to God and truly desired to lead good lives on the earth such as Methuselah, Abraham, Moses, Jacob, David (even though he murdered for lust!), Job, Joseph... these were all very good men! who hated to displease the true God! and Daniel whom the true God called "very desirable man!" as he was so faithful to Him... and refused to eat all of the delicacies the king would put before him which he (Daniel) kept refusing to opt instead for the fresh fruits, vegetables and raw nuts that were much healthier for him... and refused to worship other gods in any way, shape or form, even at the risk of being thrown to the lions' den with his three friends... Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego who agreed to be thrown in a fiery furnace before they would accept the form of worship that was fast becoming everybody else's tradition but not the true God's real devoted and loyal worshipers. So... it is my firm belief that even though we aren't as perfect or holy (clean) as we would love to be! many strive to please God and live their lives with His true will and purpose in mind always! As they learn even now in this old system to say "no" to Satan and do their utmost to love their God with all their hearts, minds and souls and their neighbor, (which is anyone they encounter on a daily basis... or anyone beside them! or next to them, as it were...) For instance, at this very moment, you are my neighbor and I should owe you nothing but love, that agape form of love that Jesus himself had, when he accepted to die a most horrible death for the sake of allowing divine justice to find it acceptable for the living God to give us back what our first parents had lost for us, when they disobeyed the only "religion" on earth at the time, that of staying away from one the fruit of just one single tree... (I believe that sooner than you think, we might also return to no more religion at all on the earth... exect to simply live as a human is supposed to live... which will happen after Satan and his demons are destroyed once and for all and no longer around to tempt the weak people that we can be, into doing inhuman deeds... such as gossiping against our neighbors, killing others, and stealing, etc.
And yes! I believe in humans, that they would all love to be "good" and that even sick murderers go to their death, claiming that they are "good" people, that it wasn't their fault!!!
In a very real way, they do have a point! As many people are often "provoked" into "murder"... not that I'm defending anyone found guilty of this... but when all of the facts come out, I can even understand how time and cirmcumstances have affect even that one who ended up killing a person they had no intention of killing until... whatever!!! And like I always say, I'm just happy to not be the judge... as I truly have a deep love for all humans on earth and would have a hard time to pay back an eye for an eye! I'd much rather leave it all to the ones who have the power to do so... Jesus, our king and his and my heavenly Father... the Almighty and Eternal One... who always was and always will be... who is nothing less and nothing more than Love, Wisdom, Power and Justice, personified! and who created us all in His and His only begotten son's image in the first place... so it's for sure that I believe in us!!! If only Satan could be taken care of, sooner than later, and stop influencing the whole world, presently lying in his power! Bottom line, it is not even one man that I would blame for anything... but the one at the root of all evil in the world today... the god of 2 Corinthians 4:4 and John 8:44. That's all for now!

i would like to hope we are born inherently good, as opposed to the other posters answer i think most would act out if there were no rules b/c of the nature of our society today, but if you could take just a few people, transport them to another planet and raise their kids w/o the structure of modern day living i do not believe they would be inherently bad people. and since we are all products of our experiences, any negative experience is going to be reflected in the nature of the person, enough negativity will make someone bad but to think that a person is born having bad intentions is something i don't agree with, but that's just my opinion.

p.s. not all people who do 'bad' things are bad people, think of the analogy of a man stealing bread to feed his family.

Is there good or bad if someone is not aware of the difference. Baby's are born without that knowledge so they do nothing intentionally wrong.

However they do understand satisfaction and will express hunger or discomfort. We teach them how to ask for these things as well as how to get our attention because they like recognition just as we do.

A baby will not understand ownership of interaction so they will take and act as they please until they are taught otherwise.

The concept of good and evil is taught. Humans are neither inherently good nor evil. They become what they see around them, and learn good and evil by observing how different things are reacted to. Different people have different concepts of good and evil in different parts of the world.

well you have to go back to the root of this issue..first of all, God made Adam /Eve ,and should continue to you and i today, perfect...i.e. perfect/good human nature.....THEN satan entered the picture and made us sin...formed and born in sin...unless God intervened inside the womb through mum's/dad's prayer, we are born into sin ....after birth, we LEARN that which is good or bad....and to be one or the other is the CONSEQUENCE /RESULT of DECISION MAKING...God made each person with THE POWER TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FROM THE WRONG...our nature depends on choice from birth....God bless

imo, its def. hard to say, maybe its 50/50... cuz as humans, we realize we need laws since deep down, we must restrain ourselves, and yet, our realization is also what makes us good, as we strive to promote social well-being

some people say that evil cannot be created... rather, it is merely the corruption of the human heart, which spreads

Yes. Tell me, from where do he know there is evil? He's taught by his family, his freinds, etc. The prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH), has said that ,too.
