Forget about wether or not the suspensions of Stoudamire and Diaw are "fair" or "right". What i want to know is are the suspensions really in the best interest of the NBA? Isn't it better for the NBA if the "exciting" Phoenix Suns advance in the playoffs, and play more games than the "boring" SA Spurs? I have no rooting interest in either team, but if given the choice, I would be much more likely to tune in and watch a Suns game than a Spurs game. I know that Spurs fans are going to reply that I just don't appreciate good fundamental B Ball, but i've got news for you...It's F'ing boring. If it wasn't your favorite team, and you didn't have a rooting interest, you would realize how truly agonizing it is to sit through a Spurs game. Anyway, let me know what you think. Did the NBA shoot itself in the foot?

First, I will say that I am a Suns fan living in PHX.
That said, like Shaq mentioned when questions by Sir Charles, "It's the law." The commsioner had no choice but to suspend.

Like Skip Bayless mentioned on ESPN today after talking to many coaches, "Don't count out the Suns tonight at home. They will be fighting with the wounded tiger therory. Players in the game will have to take it up two notches. Fans in the U.S. Airways Center will have take it up five notches. Remember last year when Raja got benched after the Kobe clothes line? The Suns went in & beat LA in LA." I hope he's right & we can go finish it Friday night with a still fired up full roster.

Further Skip mentions, look at all of talk radio & sports TV today, this is all that's beign talked about. Stanley Cup playoffs, baseball with Bonds' quest, T.O. crackin' back on Big Tuna... nobody is focused on any of those stories.

No. Ratings will be higher tonight than any other game in the series.

However, I DO hope they reword this rule before next season.

No. None of that has any impact on the NBA. They are going to make a ton of money and sell out games and have high ratings regardless of what happens. It is the championship that is on the line, and ultimately no one is going to care who makes it. It is not like hockey where some dull team out in the boondocks won't bring in any television revenue. Ultimately, the suspensions were a MUST. The NBA will lose way more people who think they have gone soft than they will based on which teams advance. Doesn't matter how "boring" the team is. Basketball is boring regardless of who plays.

Yes the NBA office must filled with a bunch of idiots. Robert Horry started it all and yet the Spurs get the better part of the suspensions.
