All the information is right here.

http://www.nasajobs.nasa.gov/astronauts/default.htm

Astronauts are typically either military pilots, for shuttle commander and pilot slots, or Ph.D. scientists for payload specialist positions.

First you have to graduate from High School with a straight A Average.

Next you must go to college and major in Physics, Aerodynamic Engineering, or something like that with a
Straight "A" Average.

While in school get a Private Pilot's License and collect
several thousands of hours as pilot of single engine, multi engine, and jet aircraft.

Then contact NASA directly and apply for Astronaut training.

It might help to get to know a popular Senator or State Govenor while you are at it so that they can provide you with some excellent credentials that will make you stand out from all other applicants.

Stick in at school, do well in maths and the sciences especially. Get a degree in astrophysics and you're well on your way to being one of the boffins who are going to be assigned to the ISS to perform experiments.

Alternatively.

Join the Military, the boffins are going to need people to fly them there, so join the Airforce (it might help if its the American one). Get in as many flying hours as you can, keep your nose clean and be promoted to at least Major.

Alternatively

Become a huge success at whatever it is you want to do, rake the money in and save so that you become a billionaire then you can buy a ticket into space with the Russians (who need your money to fund their space programme since the break up of the USSR - you'll have to learn Russian though as you train at Star City)

Alternatively

Wait about a decade and just become a millionaire, you won't even have to leave Great Britain because Sir Richard Branson is planning to bring orbital (you can hardly call it space travel) travel to the masses.

Apply to Nasa and get a medical test. If approved you can have a training in the art of travelling in space at high velocities and higher G-factors. If your body and mind is found capable to bear thse strains, you may become an astronaut

Get a science degree and possibly a graduate degree in science, engineering or technology. Maybe join the military and become a top gun pilot. Then apply to the astronaut corps.

study physics, maths, and i would throw in a few more sciencey things too. Go to NASA/the ESA and ask someone about it. Check out their sites first and have a look to see if they have any advice as well. (email them if they don't) and make sure you're not fat, don't have a serious health condition, and arn't afraid of heights. good luck.
