The US tax office apparently did not receive my online returns for several years, and only just noticed. The provider I was using did not keep records of sent mail, and as I terminated the account recently, claims I have no recourse to him.

Nope. no isp is required to keep your email

email is not a protected form of communication. only telephone, snail mail and fax are

Agree. it would be like the Royale Mail beginning your letters, image copying & then submitting them. There would be outrage if that handed off. E/Mails are digital mail correspondence. So yea i'm out raged. i'd ought to admit that's the 1st I even have heard of it. it would be advantageous to work out a link
