Excuse me, but would you have the time and the resources to help me with "such and such"? If you don't, and you need to tell me that you are not able to right now, it's not a problem. There are other people that can help me with it.

Sir (or Madam),
I have a genuine problem with my homework on ....(subject).... I know that you always want to get the best out of your students, but am a bit hesitant to ask for your help right now, as you seem to be tired after a long day. Maybe you could let me know when you would be a bit free, so that you could guide me with this homework. Thanks.
