Our coaching staff LOVES gift cards to restraunts. We usually all go out together and getting the gift cards is a great reason to! Also, homemade baked goods are awesome. Specially made tee shirts that are one-of-a-kind usually go over well. If your coach has a special habit or something he always eats/drinks, giving that as a gift will show that you pay attention.
The team photo is ALWAYS a great idea, especially if it is autograpphed or has an autographed frame or poem with it.
All of the swimming-oriented gifts are okay but I'll admit, we've seen them all! The only cool swimming gift I've recieved was a Christmas ornament with the team logo and STATE CHAMPIONS 2005 on it. That always makes me smile and it was unique. We all have stopwatches and caps coming out of our kazoo, trust me!!!

We always got our swim coach something like a jacket or a chair that says "coach Johnson" on it. I think the chair was his favorite because he is able to bring it to all the meets and use it.

My coach helped me break my 30 flat in my 50 freestyle, I actually got a 29.9. That was so important to me and he knew it, so I got him $29.90 in a gift card to Sonic. This is something really original, and he will know you meant it.

Whole Team Makes It To STATE!!! he'll love it!! lol or you could get him something from the heart it doesn't have to be someting expeinsive just something that the whole team put's there dedication 2!!

we gave our coach a journal and tea b/c we drive him crazy! and a gift card to 2 different restaurants
