ok, this morning at like 5:00ami woke up, i saw a green light on my blanket then it started moving. i shook the creepy thing off my bed. then it flickers a green light. then it stops. i turned my light on and found something an inch long. i watched it carefully until it moved. then i ran to my kitchen for a bug spray. when i got back in my room, it was gone. i was like where is it?!! Then i found the bug behind my drawer. it still had that glowing light near the head area, like on its sides. I sprayed the bug. then i heard this clicking sound i freaked out and sprayed it more. then the light started flickering slowly and slowly until it stops. THAT WAS SO GROSS.

The bug was like an inch long. The glow like fireflies but unlike them they can't fly.

what the heck was that?! it was the most disgusting thing i ever seen. Will it kill me? why is it in my room?

It may have been an inch-worm, though I am not entirely positive as I don't know if they glow like you described. A friend of mine also descibed another type of glow-worm of sorts (I don't remember the name of it right now) that was somewhat similar to what you spoke of here. I would recommend asking your teacher and see what he/she says about it. They can certainly assist you in finding out just what this critter-crawler was that you found in your home. Checking online is always another good option. Just key in specific words; Inch, Worm, Glow, etc.- then see what you find there also. I don't think you're in any danger from this critter that you found in your room, it only frightened you. Ask your parents for some help about this too.

It was probably a glow worm.

Glow worms are the female firefly. They don't fly, they hang out on the ground and the males (fireflies) fly around trying to find them.

What I fail to understand is why people get so grossed out by insects but have no problem spraying gobs of toxic chemicals in their homes when all they have to do is simply escort the little bugger back outside where it belongs.

Alien mind probes. It was suppost to craw up your nose and rest close to your brain for alien instructions. Im sending a larva alien specimin task force to collect it. The Liberal influence enhancers are infecting the world. What kind of bug spray did you use? Some respond better with posion. Soon the whole world will believe everyone is lying and alien liberal leaders will take over the earth. There is only one cure. A deep submission to conservative thought. It is know to make the bug froth and run away and acting irrational.

It was probably a female firefly. I've never seen one, but they are wormlike and they emit a light from the grass to attract the males. And you -way- overreacted to that. Unless it's a poisonous spider or a mass of fire ants, it's not gonna kill you.

Of course it won't kill you. If it wasn't a firefly it might have been a glow worm. Phengodid beetle larvae.

It's a lightning bug or firefly. They're harmless. Children love to collect them in jars.

A lighting bug. I remeber when I used to live in Georgia, me and my siblings used to collect them on summer nights.
