The original purpose of the Social Secuirty Act was:

(a) To counter the effects of the Great Depression
(b) To counter the effects of World War Two
(c) A & B
(d) None of the above

I say its "C" because wasn't World War Two also considered the "Great Depression"?

TIA

Thank you all very much for your help! I knew it was created to counter the Great Depression, however I thought the Great Depression was a result of World War Two. I guess WWII got us out of the Great Depression.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I really appreciate it! :-)

Take care,
Korey

The first SSNs were issued by the Social Security Administration in November 1936 as part of the New Deal Social Security program. By the end of 1937, over 37 million numbers had been issued.

Before 1986, people often did not have a Social Security number until the age of about 14, since they were used for income tracking purposes, and those under that age seldom had substantial income. In 1986, American taxation law was altered so that individuals over 5 years old without Social Security numbers could not be successfully claimed as dependents on tax returns. Since then, parents have often applied for Social Security numbers for their children soon after birth. (Note: The law does not absolutely preclude claiming dependents without a Social Security number, as an issue of policy the IRS often denies such claims unless the issue is pressed.

Social Security Cards up until the the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to ever be used for identification purposes

sure I even have heard it many cases. I wish it have been extra to truly do something with, in view that we are often broke by applying the 0.33 week of the month. it is too undesirable costs for each thing could not be as they have been interior the 50's, and we would nonetheless get an identical quantity of SS as we get now. Then there would be passable money to fulfill the two our charges and be waiting to purchase issues to interchange what's mandatory in our homes. what's the main troublesome, is to truly choose the tests and yet, there isn't adequate to truly meet our desires. I hate to think of that area of our stimulus tests will pass to the food market. even though it probable will.
