When I try to turn my computer on it actually does turn on but there is no beep, which I think would indicate that it is booting. The computer sounds like it is on, but the screen is blank and nothing is happening... So basically, I press the power and my computer sounds like its on, but it will not beep. The screen just stays blank with the sound of the computer running.. Before, I had to keep unplugging and plugging the computer in order for it to beep and boot up. Now, it won't work at all no matter how many times i unplug and plug my computer in.. I tried a different power supply but that did not do anything. I am thinking it may be an issue with either the processor or the motherboard? Please help someone!

It sounds like the motherboard, or possibly the power supply is bad.

The 'on' sound is the drives spinning up. They will do this as soon as they get power.

That would indicate that the power supply is good, but it might be one of the rails to the motherboard is bad.

You could try unplugging all the memory an the connectors, replugging and see if that works.

Also try pulling everything except the minimum memory you need, and the video and see if you can get into BIOS.

Check the RAM. If it sounds like it is on, then the CPU and PSU are probably ok. There should be a lot of little clicks indicating your hard drive is in use and programs are loading. If not, then unplug the cables (all of them) from the hard drive(s) and floppy, and see if you can get into the BIOS. If so, then one of your drives may be hosed. Plug one in at a time and see if it will boot each time.

A failing drive can cause your symptoms.

Try checking your graphics card to see if it is loose. If not look for cmos jumper and short the pins to reset csmos. You move jumper to other pins so if on pin 1 &2 change to 2 & 3 for ten seconds and make sure your pc is unplugged.

Open the cpu... just take the RAM out ... clean the slots and the RAM ... insert the RAM again . if its not working remove the VGA cable from cpu and check that is there any indication of NO SIGNAL on monitor. Other wise it might be the problem with your smps

when you power on your pc,press delet key
imediateky and repeatedly.if you entered the setup page then you need to clear cmos and to do this it is better to see your motherboard's manual to see how to clear cmos.
if you couldnt enter setup page then it is you graphics card which should be replaced.
if your motherboard is an old one then it is possible that your bios needs to be updated.
