I totally know how you feel. I have tried everything in the last 2 weeks. I have walked miles, had sex every day, eaten spicy foods and all the random foods people say help. I even drank the castor oil (yuck). Anyway, the moral of the story is nothing has worked and I am still pregnant. Take it from me, its not worth all the effort. The baby will come eventually. There is no harm in trying, but in my experience all it does is make you tired anxious, and in some cases sick (except the sex, that is fun anyway). I know it sucks, but just relax and try to have patience. Good Luck.

Probably by the time you get these answers, you will no longer need them!

I was a week and a half late for each one of my kids....and miserable during this time. Doctors usually watch the size, growth, etc. but don't want to hurry the natural process unless necessary...so I tried everything...walking for blocks, taking cod liver oil (didn't work a bit), etc.) Only time worked for me!

Doctors will induce if all seems ready....I did have that one Christmastime....if all is ready they can give you a shot to get labor going....was the easiest I had...they can almost time when it will arrive.

If you get too miserable, ask the doctor when you can do this.....usually they will say, "well if it doesn't come by....." which at least gives you hope it will soon be over...which it will! Congratulations! I had so much fun with all my kids....five of them!

As sleepless and unproductive as you feel now, it's going to be a million times worse once the baby is born. At 38 weeks my doc was reluctant to check for dilation and effacement, because sometimes the exam can cause a woman to go into labor. I insisted that she do it, and I was barely showing any signs of impending labor . . . my son was born the next day. Congratulations on your pregnancy, try to enjoy it no matter how long it lasts.

Most of the answers you're going to get are old wives tales, and probably won't work, but here goes...try some spicy Mexican food. My sister was overdue and had been induced twice, but no baby. We smuggled in some Mexican from her favorite restaurant. She ate, threw up and went into labor. Also, I've heard that something in black licorice can jump-start labor. And, of course, sex supposedly does it, too. And if these things don't work...don't stress it too much - believe me, as exciting as it is to have a baby, you'll be looking back on these days and wondering why you wished it away! Good luck and congratulations!!!

Even though 37 weeks is considered full term, all babies develop different. Your baby will come when it's ready! Congratulations!

Oh yeah, don't expect to get a whole lot of sleep once you have the baby either. You may not be pregnant anymore, but your baby is NOT gonna let you rest that easy!

I'm a little over 8 months pregnant and I'm also ready to have him NOW!! With my first baby, I went for a bumpy ride up a mountain and went into labor that night. They also say sex and long walks can trigger labor. I keep talking about it and my sister says that when he's done, he'll come out! Guess we just have to be patient. Congratulations & good luck.

besides the regular walking around and sex...you can use primrose...it's a geltab that you take by mouth and vaginally ever night until you go into labor. I had my 2nd daughter with the help of a midwife and she suggested it. Can't remember if it's one or two that you are supposed to take.(I guess that another question you can ask) She didn't recommend it until I was 39 weeks and I don't know if it helped, but I did go into labor within a few days. I know you are feeling impatient, but your uterus is the best place for her until she is ready.

UM don't think that you will get more sleep after she comes! I was for some odd reason thinking the same way and here comes my son and suddenly no one slept! Not even the dog. haha
If you want to speed it up, the only things I did was walk a like I was in a marathon, eat spicey food and have sex and he came that next morning!

good luck!

I know how you feel, I went all the way to 43 weeks with my daughter. I tried EVERYTHING! Sex is supposed to work the best, followed by spicy food and walking as much as you can. If this doesn't work, then your doctor will probably induce if you go too much longer. That's what they finally had to do for me. Congratulations & Good Luck!
