What should I do to reduce the amount of data I download while surfing?

I have stopped downloading images, installed an adblocker but still am using up a lot of megabytes of data while I surf. I use firefox. Does anybody know how I can reduce my Data footprint(size)?

Squid proxy cache would do just that.
