In such a diverse nation as the U.S. it is long overdue for that diversity to be represented in the "white" house. There are thousands of qualified people of non-White status who never get a chance to be heard. White men are not the only people qualified to run this country. In fact, many of them, i.e. Pres. Bush, aren't qualified to run much of anything but money, power and family connections got him the job.
Im over this nonsense. Its time for the people to be heard and this to ACTUALLY be the democracy it claims to be. Qualified women and people of all ethnicities deserve a chance!

There is no problem with a president of a different race or sex, as long as they are not voted in on those criteria alone. I personally prefer to have a male president, but I would not be opposed to voting for a female if she appeared to be the best candidate. Color is really a non-issue. Why does anybody care about that when making a decision about a human being?

This is the thing people can't be elected president based and the fact that they're black, white, boy, girl whatever. The sooner people can realize that leaders of a nation should be chosen based on their ideals the sooner we will be able to stop arguing about it. We are all humans, and maybe next time the candidates for pres. shouldn't be shown so that only their ideals and goals are shown.

I don't think the people in this nation should choose their president based on race or gender. It really all depends on the abilities of the person running. Sadly, in this multi media age we far too often choose our leaders based on how they 'come off' on television and how well they can 'score points' in ads and debates (most often by taking negative shots at their opponents).
Until we mature as a nation to the point that se are not choosing leaders based on their camera compatability and their talent at delinering good sound bites it probably doesn't matter who we elect.

OK this is dumb. It doesn't matter what gender or race the president is it matters what they believe and what they will do for the country. You shouldn't want a president because of their race or sex or anything.

Why should it matter? Race, gender should not be an issue only for good they would be as a President..

I couldn't care less about a candidate's race, sex, or religion. I want someone who can not be bought so easily, who is ethical, and a person of integrity, who cares what's right for Americans -- not what's right for their party. Unfortunately, neither Bush nor Hillary would pass that test.

It's the person's character & content of the heart that count not the color of the skin. The sex could come into play on hot flash days (no joke)

color, race, gender or sexuality should not be an issue about a president. The way he or she does the job should be the issue.

To be terribly good, I think we need to have the BEST person for President. But if all of them are about the same, I'd like to have females and other colors to help people who are afraid of people different than them get used to such things.

Who cares what race or sex they are? I vote for whoever seems to be most capable of doing a good job.
