My friends and most of my family say that I should try out for American Idol. I know that it is the most watched reality t.v. show, but i've never really watched it. What is the process, and does anyone know when the next casting call will be?

free2rhyme, luckily i didn't really ask you what you wanted to see, because i could care less about your opinions and moreso about you answering my question properly. Secondly, not all black women have a scandal attached to their name, and not all are ghetto, you seem to be very ignorant, and just answered my question for your two points, get a life.

They normally do casting in the summer so I'd check it out. Call their headcourters or check on their website. The process is you go in and wait in line and go in front of the judges singing acapello. They say what they think and then if you're good they put you through to hollywood
GOOD LUCK!

They have a website (www.americanidol.com - it used to be www.idolonfox.com, but that is an old site that redirects you to americanidol.com). The new season starts each January, so they don't usually start doing auditions until late summer or early fall, but you should be able to find out more on the website.
In the first round of auditions, they go around to 5 or 6 different cities, which can change each year. You would have to see which one is closest to you. If you make it through that round, you go to Hollywood and try to get through several more rounds before the top group is picked for the main part of the show.

Check periodically on the web site americanidol.com, and sometime in late summer, usually around August, they start going to different cities taking on auditions. The actual show then starts up every January. Most everything you want to know about the show is on their web site, so just go there.

The process is that thousands of people sing for the TV exec hacks, who know nothing about music -- even less than those judges. They then select people based on TV ratings potential and not singing ability.

If you think you want to go & try out, then by all means, do it!!! All they can say is Yes or No, go & have fun. If you don't, then you will never know what you missed out on. I don't know the answers to your other questions, but look up American Idol.com. Have fun!
