2012 is simply when the current baktun of the Mayan calendar ends. A baktun is a 400 year period, and we are in the twelfth baktun. It is true that the Mayan calendar effectively ends on December 21, 2012, because for whatever reason the Mayans didn't extend the calendar beyond the end of the twelfth baktun. This doesn't mean that the Mayans believed the world would end at that point. I mean, during the 20th century, the civilized world created a computer timekeeping system that was incapable of recognizing dates beyond December 31, 1999. It doesn't mean we thought the world was going to end that day! Maybe the Mayans would have extended the calendar centuries ago if their civilization hadn't collapsed. And even if the Mayans did believe the world would end in 2012, that doesn't mean it actually will. Remember, every predicted date for the end of the world so far has been wrong! In any event, the termination of the Mayan "long count" calendar on December 21, 2012, is the main reason why that year has been singled out as the supposed date of the apocalypse.

Well, if you listen to a friend of mine and the wierd XM station he listens to where I live on the Gulf Coast is going to cease to exist. This isn't due to a hurricane, it's due to a 20 something foot rise in sea level and we need to move or we're all gonna die... I honestly don't think it's going to be any different than 2000, I mean maybe the calendar ended in 2012 for the Mayans cause it was when they decided they had a huge hand cramp and that was enough. It's like the little guy with the "The World is Going to End" sign- well duh, at some point, but why waste your life worrying about it? Personally I would rather have fun and do what I do without worrying about what might happen, come find me if something does.

the international won't bring about 2012. The Mayan calendar ends there, and their ideals state that the earth god and the solar god might have a conflict and the Earth would be destroyed. '2012' is a artwork of fiction in line with warped myths of the Mayan calendar a coming apocalypse. The be conscious 'apocalypse' technically would not advise the top of the international, however the top of the international as all of us know it. December 21, 2012 is the day that the solar would be promptly aligned without galaxy, the Milky way. i've got heard rumors with regard to the Age of Aquarius beginning in 2012, yet i won't be in a position to make certain that that is genuine. it is likewise stated that the Age of Aquarius will carry 'super substitute.' There are additionally rumors that it will herald regards to the apocalypse, or super substitute to the international as all of us know it. desire this clears up some issues :)

What I can say is that the Earth wont end in 2012 unless theres a world war 3 or somthing similer. But I can tell you for sure that the Earth will no longer exist in about 5 billion years, when the Sun becomes a super red giant star and ingulfs the orbits of the Earth and Mars. The Earth will be oblivarated, so lets hope that if the human race still exists that we have the technology to travel to another solar system.
I hope that this answers your question?

well, just stay away from london and you won't get bombed by all the terrorists who hate us for some unknown reason (even though our country treats foreigners better than it does it's own people, and other religiouns better than it does it's official religion christianity, and so frankly they have nothing to moan about, but moving on...) I mean, no-one bomber hitler's olympics, but our's, well, they'll be up in smoke...
and the mayan calander doesn't go past that point.
frankly, there is always someone in the world who has decided that the world will end in one year or another. I wouldn't worry about it. even if it does happen, you won't notice, and there is nothing you could do about it.

The end of the world has been thought over many times. Atm there is an asteroid heading towards the Earth that we can't stop yet, there's a chance of a supervolcano erupting, theres the chance of a giant nuclear war and nothing would even survive the fallout, but by 2012, I doubt it.

Nothing predictable will happen in 2012. The Mayan calendar comes to an end that year, but it doesn't mean the end of the world. In any case, look what happened to the Mayans...they didn't predict their own end, so I don't put much faith in their predictive abilities.
