They will disappear as the compost breaks down. If you are continually adding new fruit and veggie waste then the fruit flies will remain. Also are you grinding your veggie and fruit waste before adding to the pile? Smaller size particles will reduce the flies.
Could be you need to be running two or more bins with compost in varying states of decomposition.
Also are you sure your carbon and nitrogen % are in order? Is your compost too wet?

One way to minimise this sort of problem is to keep your kitchen waste in a sealed container and let it accumulate for a few days then put it on your composter and cover it with a good layer of grass clippings to stop flys being able to reach it to lay their eggs.

Tough one. Try some top soil, put it on top of your compost, wait a few days. then turn it. Regards-Bob. Also. try some Coke (the soda).

Don't worry, they won't do any harm, if they bother you make sure the compost bin is sealed properly.

Simple if you really want to get rid of them get an aerosol of fly spray and spray them once in a while, this will kill anything that fies. No fuss no bother.

You need to cover any kitchen waste with shredded paper and it also helps to sprinkle water in the bin. This will deter them.

It is outside right???
If it is warm you are going to get fruit flies...not much you can do.
Maybe next time you mow the lawn put the grass clippings on top - that helps for me.
