especially in nature park or the like where dogs are clearly banned or required to wear leashes? dont you love when the dog comes up to your crouch to sniff and the owner giggly says 'Dont worry, he's friendly'? Is there anyone allegic to dogs? Do these owners think the fricken park is their personal backyard?

sbirdie77 - when your dog(s) eventually get hit by a car, will they not be on a leash too? guess YOU will have to 'get over it'

It bothers me. I have a 3 yr old and as we all know 3 yr olds are little. When we go to the park and there is a leash less dog just roaming somewhat near their owner, my daughter gets freaked out. The dog could be nice but it could also be mean. People need to think about others when they're in the park or any where that's public.

I find it absolutely irresponsible!!!!! Having your dog on a leash is a law to protect not only other people, but your dog. It breaks my heart to see dogs that have been hit by cars, or lost posters all over. I have a fenced in back yard, and I still keep an eye on my dogs when they are out. When we first moved into our house we were out with the dogs in the yard and the male went after a rabbit and jumped over the fence, fortunately the yard behind us was fenced also, so my boyfriend was able to jump the fence to get Thor before he was able to get hurt. If people are not responsible with their pets, I hate to see how they would be with children.
By the way- great question!

the parks I walk my dogs in with leashes ..everyone there has their dog on a leash my city does have a few parks where people can let their dogs off the leash but I would never do that for fear of my dogs taking off & for the record I have had many a dog sniff my crouch even when their on the leash..

It pisses me off.
I've gone to great lengths to obedience train my dog and never walk him in public w/o a leash on.
I've been approached by scary looking dogs not on leashes and I've had to mace them before, all because of inconsiderate, a**hole dog owners.
My dog is (like most dogs) quite protective of his "people" when out and I know he gives other dogs shi**y looks, and that can lead to trouble if the other dogs aren't on a leash.

It makes me nervous...that they are gona attack me or my dog, or run into the street and get hit by a car, or start humping my leg.....I don't like it one bit. And now there are those super long retractable leashes so I don't think there should be a need for it either!

That is a shame. People are required to have dogs on leashes where I live, or they can be fined.

I hate that. Especially when the dog is trying to jump all over you and the owner is talking about he's friendly. I don't care if he's friendly, he's not my dog and I don't want him jumping on me.

it doesnt matter to me, i hat a rot and a pitbull that were the nicest dogs but everyone was scared of them, so i would always have them on a leash cuz they always wanted to play with people but people were scared of them, so really it doesnt matter to me as long as they are not chasing someone trying to bite them i dont care

There are very few dogs well behaved enough to go "leashless". Those owners that walk their dogs leashless are clueless, self centered, selfish, morons.
