It is actually better to blow out the dust because a vacuum can create a lot of static that can damage parts.

They sell cans of compressed air that works well for blowing out a computer.
- Blow the dust out of heat sinks, this help cooling
- Blow dust out of fans
- Make sure not to let fans spin - this can damage them
- Clean out the air intake "grille" on the front of the case

Specs? a few possibilities would be if you have added on hardware such as video cards, it may be a power supply failure. Check the wattage on your PSU and then google a program that can tell you how much your computer is consuming. Most likely, it would be from overheating. If you restart your computer, the screen should briefly display your temperature when starting up (or again find some freeware online). Your computer should operate at 35-45 degrees celcius. Check the inside of your computer. clean out layers of dust, and make sure the fan is working properly. Use soap and water to clean off the fan, and C02 for the rest of the insides.

If you lightly vacuum it out with a little hose connection than it would be fine. Even those canned-air dusters work well. When you say vacuum people think you are going to get a big ol' monster vac in. Just try to use one of those thin hose connections and try not to directly touch any of the chips. You should be fine, I clean out my comp. all the time like that.

Are you talking about a regular desktop CPU tower? Then YES, that's fine - but make sure you're using a vacuum for electronic equipment (go to your PC store) and not a household vacuum or even a Dust Buster.

There are a lot of delicate parts in there, but you can take off the cover and get out what you can (carefully). They do tend to gather a lot of dust on the inside, and over time it can cause issues with the cooling fan and other parts.

You can buy cans of compressed air at many stores that sell computers and/or electronics.

i wouldnt suggest it. take it to your garage and use that spray-air stuff that you use to clean dust off of delicate things (hmmm...computers???) or in the crevices of keyboards. its basically pressurized air in an aerosol can. just open ur case and spray away. when ur done just vacuum the dust off the floor.
