I had a c-section and only waited 3 weeks beleive it or not. I've been fine too. It's really up to you, if you want to listen to the DR or go about it your own way.

I know the doctor says to wait, but I honestly had intercourse less than one week postaprtum. I wanted my Hubby like crazy that first few weeks postpartum. If you do decide to do it early, just make sure he washes his hands really well first and use a condom to help keep things cleaner than normal. Part of the reason they tell you to wait is the risk for infection. It takes the cervix quite a while to close back up entirely, and you don't want bacteria entering your unterus and causing an infection. Just take it easy, and go slow. Everything will probably be a little uncomfortable the first few times. Congrats on the little one, btw!

My doctor's appointment isn't until 10 weeks (that's the first I could get in) and I had asked them about this question since it will be way to long for me to wait (we weren't allowed during my third trimester because I went into pre-term labor.) The nurse told me that as long as I am finished bleeding and I do not have any complications with the stitches (I tore) then there shouldn't be a problem. Honestly, you probably don't want to have intercourse anyways while you are still bleeding. I was told that it hurts, but at 7 weeks (that's where I am now) it didn't hurt.

There are good reasons why you should wait the 6 weeks. Yes it's hard, but it's what's best for your body. Give yourself time to completely heal. If the man in your life can deal with going without for that long...great! I waited until the post partum bleeding had stopped...that took 5 weeks. It just depends on you, your partner and how you feel.

I had a small tear from delivery my dr said it was very minor but it just took that long for me to heal down there but some people are fine and start having sex at 4 to 6 weeks it just depends on you

I waited the 6 weeks like my doctor said. My friend only waited 4 weeks, and it she ended up having some tearing because of it.

It depends...like others have said. I didn't wait the full 6 weeks, and I ended up pregnant again. I also had a c-section with both of my kids. It is up to how you are feeling. Don't dive right into have sex....try fooling around first and if that feels okay, then try it. Feel it out first, you don't want to go too fast and then end up tearing or just hurting yourself. Your body is trying to recover from something that was traumatic on it. Go slow...

I had a lot of tearing, so I actually waited 3-1/2 months because I was so scared. Even then, it was quite uncomfortable.
You're better off waiting until your doctor gives you the go-ahead. Let your body heal.

Depends on how you delivered...I had a c-section and I had sex within 4to5 weeks and it was fine...but remember you should be very careful b/c you are wide open right now which can lead to infections and pregnancy so I would at least give your body some time to heal especially if you delivered naturally at least 4 weeks or more...You don't want to risk your health its really worth the wait...try some other activities..

You really have to listen to your body on that one. Not knowing the details of your delivery, it's hard to say what would be safe. Needless to say, if you had to have any stitches, I would wait. If not, give it a shot. If anything hurts, stop, your body is telling you that it is too soon. You can always pleasure each other in different ways.
