I have seen plenty of Democratic "tents" and they are usually quite small.............

I liked this question because it was so sarcastic. We love to worry about who said that possible racial slur, should he be fired...dear lord is britney spears pregnant again? I am going to die if I don't know if Tom Cruise and what's-her-name are still happy.
Politically, I would consider myself a leaner-to-the-left but I agree with some republicans and disagree with some demos. That being said, I have been reading a lot of history on WWII. I don't know why, but I just started reading a lot of histories of war. One theme seems pretty constant: there was a civilization that thought it was too big to be conquered (egyptians, greeks, romans) and they were brought down by seemingly unorganized tribes and groups that got organized enough to tear apart the eutopia. Sound familiar?
We all sit and worry about the next Paris Hilton arrest, the next Bradgelina rumor, or if maddonna has a headache. I am guilty of all of this too, but are we getting too fat, lazy, and apethetic to where we actually can be brought down by some muslim "unorganized tribe"? I have no answer, but I know I am worried about our kids. I just don't see us Americans carrying on this way of life for much longer We are like the "really good" high school football player that got fat and still thinks he's the best, even though all he does is eat fried stuff with cheese, then ***** about why he isn't a pro. I have no answers but we can't go on this way. Sorry for the rant, but those WWII books got me thinking, nothing we are doing right now will better our situation.

Well, it's like this: The nation is so disgusted with the way the republicans ran things, even the wimpy democrats would be a step in the right(or left?) direction.
They want that sucker out of there now.
The problem is that the dems are just as bad to the left as the reps are to the right.

you are a bit short on the facts.
howard stern is a republican who has supported and helped get elected christine todd whitman, arnold schwarzenegger, and governor pataki among others.
and what you fail to mention in your silly rant is any real power broker groups in the dem party - and there are a lot of them.
this is the reason why the dems are currently slightly less objectionable than the repubs - they ARE less organized and less able to form a united front against the american people the way the repubs do time after time.
but don't worry, if the repubs don't wake up, the real conservatives will form a new party and the repubs will go the way of the whigs and tories - by 2016 if they don't wake up...

Each party is broken down into smaller sub-groups. It is not the fault of democrats that there policies happen to encompass the beliefs of a large number of people. Not everyone is far left or far right, most fall in the middle. And here is the real positive, although the Dem Tent may be large, it is filled with a group of people who DON'T follow the "if your not with me, your against me" motto. This allows a large number of people to consider themselves a member of the same party, while at the same time realizing there may be some differences in our opinions, and suprisingly, this tent won't accuse you of being anti-american or a terrorist. And as an independent, you should plainly see, that aside from the Dem's distaste for this administration, that 'hate' and 'rage' you speak of, is primarily a conservative trait. Ranging from hate and discrimination against homosexuals, to religious intolerance, to discrimination against most minorities, and those lacking financial stability. If you need examples of these characteristics, just listen to some of the biggest voices their party has to offer, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or the ever popular Ann Coulter. If those people don't represent hate, rage, and discrimination, I don't know what does.

I know that accepting more than one idea confuses you rightwing nuts. Liberals tend to be able see past their own personal ideas to the greater good. We know that we're never going to get everything we want and that sometimes you have to give some ground to get anything done. Yes it is a big tent but I don't think excluding people is going to help. As for rage and hate the right started that one and then they complain when they get it back...that's the kind of thing I expect from a three year old. And as much as I hate to admit it celebrities have as much right to speak as anyone else...though I do with they would shut up sometimes. And why is when a group that is trying to influence the government is a union, peace group, enviormental, etc they're call special intrest and told to get out of the process but when they're evengelical, big buisness, Saudi oil intrests, etc, they're called lobbiests and embraced?

Yes, politics can be quite confusing. I see the hate coming from both camps at an alarming rate. I just so happen to be under the Democratic tent. But, I promise that I want peace. I only become enraged when conservative Republicans insist that I support terrorism, hate our troops, kill babies, and other asinine accusations, simply for disagreeing with them.

Looks to me that your including all the people that are not conservative, white, and Protestant. Yes the Democrats take all those whose interests not represented by the GOP. Democrats welcome all who are not wanted in that exclusive tent of the Republican Party.

C'mon, you KNOW what kind of answers you'll get on this. Let me give it a try...
1. You are as independant as O'Reilly, Hannity, etc...
2. You are really a Republican...
3. It's Bush's fault.....
4. You're brainwashed...
5. It's Bush's fault...
I applaud you attempt to gain information from the Dems, but I fear you will just take a bashing here. Good luck.
