I like both, but it is quite nice when the asker chooses your answer and lets you know it was what was most helpful to them.

I prefer being chosen best answer (even though I've only gotten chosen a few times). I have actually never been voted best answer. I don't think I'd like it because I like to know that the asker liked my answer and chose it for that reason. Too many times people just randomly pick an answer when they vote without putting much thought into it. So you can get voted best answer even if it really isn't the best answer. I wouldn't get as much satisfaction out of that.

Being chosen best, but I don't know why. I guess it would make more sense to like it when a larger amount of people think you did the best. But I guess I like being chosen because you're the person who satisfied their question the best. Why am I getting all in depth about this, it's just yahoo!answers! hahaha

Being chosen means that your answer was the most useful to the asker. Being voted means that the most people liked what you said. I would rather be useful than popular.

I love being chosen best answer by the asker. Usually when I get voted best answer, there is only one person who voted, so that is just about meaningless.

Well, if you were voted best answer then it means that the community as a whole thinks that your answer was best.
However, I'd rather the asker choose because then I'll know that I really did help them. That means a lot more than winning a popularity contest.

Chosen, because then you get the reason why (sometimes) and you know it wasn't just a random choice (First few answers usually get more votes).
