This is a little hard to understand. The best is not the one that finds the most. My recommendation is not to use one that has a trial period. Once you buy it, what it will do is wipe out all the comments in you registry for very little gain and you will have lost a little. Once you know what you are doing, you can use one that finds a lot and use your knowledge to advantage. Like Easy cleaner. Spy bot has a cleaner that finds things some others do not and is pretty safe. Tweek Now has a free version that is good, but doesn't find everything you need. Crap cleaner is a little hard to set up, and not entirely safe. If you have XP, use windows Live Care clean up with IE only. Safe. Slow.

Here at work we use two. One that is free called Cleanup 40!. (search it on google) Leave a donation because it is the right thing to do. We also use Tweak NOw registry cleaner. Not free but works like a charm. You cold go to download.com and search there. Watch the ratings though, do not want ot get a crappy one. By all means do not mess with the registry. It is what lets you computer know the difference between an 'a" and a 'j" so to speak.

There are many good registry cleaners out there that are good, like Registry Mechanic, Glary Utilities, Amust Registry Cleaner etc. However, none of them are free. If you are looking for freeware, you can use 2-3 of them, together they will give very satisfactory results. You can find some freeware here:
