Our state House has just passed a ban on red light cameras. Not too cool in my eyes. There are many logical reasons for the stop light cameras, but what are some logical, reasonable arguements against it?

I think they're a great idea. The more help to prevent the 100 or so entirely preventable deaths from accidents per day, the better.

There has been some research that when red light cameras are installed, the length of the yellow light is shortened in order to increase the number of red light "runner" violators. Think about it, the ONLY way the camera operators make money is through violators. How to increase violators?? Shorten yellow lights from standard. Not only that, but the owner (or registrar) of the vehicle is the ONLY person who can be targeted for a violation since they go by license plate, regardless of who is actually driving the car and running the red light. I think they should all be banned. It's a racket.

Red light cameras are an invasion of privacy.
Red light cameras unfairly penalize a car's owner if somebody else is driving that car and runs a red light.Red light cameras are part of this "big brother" syndrome, where we are monitored all the timeRed light cameras are robotic and if they make a mistake, you're sunk.Red light cameras assign a role that the police should be performing to a machine.Red light cameras are just for making money. They're unfair taxes on drivers.
Red light cameras are not the most effective way to get people to stop on the red. Studies have shown that increasing the length of the yellow is better at getting people to stop at lights..

Read the book 1984. Big Brother is watching. If we wait, it may become too late before anyone really sees what is happening. Like a friend of mine got beat up by his wife because of his driving. She saw him drive through town with a blond sitting next to him.... Now here is the photo, shows your vehicle tag, shows you driving (smiling) and who is that beside you. Actually, we are losing so many personal freedoms and these simply compound the problem. Problem red light, problem crashes, educate the public, take a policeman and patrol car out of the donut shop and put him on the street.

They are to target red light runners. Those who put other peoples lives in danger cause they feel like where they have to go is more important than the other person reaching their destination safe. I'm 50/50 on the out take of red light cameras.

The red light cameras are flawed in many different ways. I understand the logic behind it, but simply stated, it doesn't work. Visit www.highwayrobbery.net

We already have too little privacy in this country. We don't want to end up like England with a camera on every street corner. I prefer street light 50 cal. machine guns. Just blow those red light running bastards away.
