I began my last period Tuesday, May 8th. I have been on birth control for about 2 years now, Ortho Tri-Cycline Lo. My fiance and I want to start trying for a baby and I was just looking for some input on when I could expect to ovulate. I don't know how long it takes for your body to get back on its own track after coming off birth control. Thanks

It can be immediately, or it can take a few months. The first time I went off it was after being on it for 7 years. I ovulated 2 weeks later, I know this because I used ovulation predictor strips. I got pregnant the first time I tried. I just went off it 3.5 weeks ago after being on it for 10 months, and I have not ovulated yet. My doctor told me that I should go off it 3 months before trying for a baby so that my pregnancy can be accurately dated. Also, I started taking prenatal vitamins both time going off the pill so it would be im my system when I conceive.

Based on the first day of your last period you're likely to be most fertile from Saturday, May 19, 2007 to Thursday, May 24, 2007. If you were to get pregnant during that time, your due date would be Tuesday, February 12, 2008.

Some people are able to ovulate and conceive right after stopping birth control. I am proof of that. I stopped my bc, had a period, then got pregnant.

There are many websites that have ovulation calendars, I suggest you use one of those. That is all I did and it worked!!

Good Luck!!

The pills are easier than the shot but it takes some months, sometime. Before you start to TTC, try to moniter your periods and keep track of your ovulation window, your periods may vary in the days in between at first making it more difficult to know when to TTC. After a few months it will become more regular and easier to know when TTC.

Good luck.

Ovulation is different for every women. The best thing for you to do is to NOT listen to those who tell you 14 days before of after your period, thats crap and is proven to not work for most women. Buy some ovulation tests. If you want them pretty afordable and in bulk go to www.babywishes.org they work and are reliable. You can also watch your cervical fluid. Check it each day internally. Wheny ou start to notice watery or eggwhite like fluid. its time for ovulation. Good luck

Oral contraceptives have the potential for a month or two of delay of fertility. This is because the ovary may at first ovulate early or late in the cycle.

you can potentially conceive the next day after your last dose of BC so I would not worry about it, just keep track of your ovulation with ovulation predictor kits and take extra notice to changes in your body as you get closer to your next period. good luck
