Is the media bias in coverage of crimes commited by white people against black victims compared to black against white?
I recently read an article about the recent murder of a white couple by 5 black assailants. This crime was extremely brutal but received no media coverage. Compare a similar "hate crime" such as the murder of James Byrd.
Is this proof that the media is bias and only willing to cover issues that promote their agenda? James Byrd's murder was used to promote hate crime legislation even though two of the men were sentenced to death and the third to life, all without the hate crime legislation.

FYI: I'm Mexican and White. This isn't about me playing a white race card.
Regarding not reporting all murders. The murder of this white couple was racially motivated. It was a hate crime in the truest sense. It was also VERY brutal. Not a typical murder. Check my links. This one would have gotten media attention if the victims were black.

got cut off...
This would have gotten more attention if "hate crime" legislation was being used again for a presidential election too.

Driveranderson: Did you read anything I posted? Byrd got the media coverage deserved but then was used for political gain for "hate crime legislation". Christian and Newsom got no coverage. Did you even read the article by the Patriot Post or do you only like your leftist media? This is about race and bias.

Media bias?? Without a doubt. Racial crimes coverage is a good example. Pro life is another.Politics is the most common one I think, because of the constant attacks on our president. I have not seen a news program that did not make anti-Bush the lead story day after day after day without any verification of the facts. I could saymore-----.

Hate Crimes legislation will only Jim Crow the law. In case you forgot the perps who were white who killed Mr. Byrd were convicted and the press covered it. You are confusing a racial issue with a bias issue. You missed the Bias Last night then Al Sharpton Slapped down PC liberals defending Opie and Anthony as free speech and then the PC liberals tried to attack Rush for "Obama the Magic *****" and Sharpton stated that it was political and defended Rush. The PC liberals then decided to end the segment. Thank you Headline news. You also used the Biased Washington Post
no wonder why you have no clue.

No, it's proof that the media DID cover it, or there wouldn't have been an article to read. Did they trumpet a tragic event from the rooftops? No, because information couldn't solve this problem. The victims were randomly chosen, and overpowered- there just wasn't anything they could have done to protect themselves. The perpetrators have been caught, and justice is currently being administered. What exactly would you like the media to do to right this wrong?

So, do you think every murder needs to be covered extensively? We wouldn't have time to hear about anything than murder, murder, murder on the news and what purpose does it really serve? Byrd's murder was completely and ONLY racially motivated...I don't know about the white couple's situation. Personally, I'd rather not hear about another murder...serves no purpose to me...won't bring them back. As John Colbert says, "truth has a liberal bias"

so, to summarize.
because of what YOU say about the coverage of this one single solitary crime and what YOU say about how other crimes are not covered it proves that the media the entire media has a bias.
if that really sizes it up i'd like to sell you some nice waterfront property the next time the tide goes out...

You notice the media slant to the left, but it also slants to the right--it just depends on which outlet you're talking about. I always believed the person watching the news should have NO IDEA of the political agenda of the editors/management. Once their political agenda is put into practice, it stops being a news outlet and becomes a propaganda machine.
