SATA doesn't have "master" and "slave" settings - each drive has its own cable and its own channel to the hard drive controller. So you probably have a driver issue here. IDE drives are supported by Windows using built in drivers, many newer motherboards have too new controllers and you will have to make a driver floppy from the MoBo CD with the SATA drivers. You install this by pressing F6 at the beginning of the Windows install.

With the IDE drive, I have had problems with the "Cable Select" setting that most hard drives come defaulted to. Look on the top of the drive and see how to set the jumper to "Master" and try that. I've had better luck locking down the master/slave setting.

Good Luck

choose extra suggestions. BIOS putting SATA as HDD. you do no longer choose a floppycontinual in a working laptop or workstation anymore. as long as you configure the HDD as SATA and Boot from CD/DVDcontinual first and then boot from HDD then you definitely ought to be able installation homestead windows XP.
