Like the others have said, there are many, many, more. You think simply of our solar system.

All other planets we've found are incapable of presently supporting human life (as far as I know). So, that's a start. And I could argue with you on your phrase of "God", but I won't go there.

Here's a theory of mine on the universe. Please indulge my ramblings.

You see, many believe the universe to be infinite. Infinite. That would mean that there are infinite duplicates of me out there right now typing the exact same thing that I am now. There'd also be infinite copies of me with one strand of hair out of place doing the same thing. (as far as I know, Infinity can exist within infinity, aye?) So under that assumption, there could be many humans out there.

Or even if the universe is finite, we might have close genetic relatives somewhere in the universe. (Sounds like I've been watching too much Star Trek, I know)

It is the only planet in our solar system that can harbor life.

Earth is placed in the best possible place in the Solar system: If we were a few thousand miles closer to the sun, we would burn up. If we were a few thousand miles away from the sun, we would freeze.

So, it is really interesting how unique we are. Carl Sagan said that there were probably one million advanced civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy. Now, scientists are seeing that Earth is probably the most unique planet in the universe.

Even the position of our moon: if the moon weren't there, we would go spinning off our axis and life would probably no longer continue.

So, in conclusion, God probably wanted to put humans on other planets but couldn't because they couldn't sustain life. He put all of the stars and planets and even our moon in perfect proportion to make it so life would be possible here on Earth.

I think you've confused "universe" with "solar system." The universe is all of creation, while the solar system is just our tiny place in it. Also there are now officially only 8 planets since Pluto got demoted.

As for why there are human beings only on Earth, that's an impossible question to answer. Beyond a doubt there are intelligent beings on countless other worlds in the universe, but the chances of them being just like we humans is remote.

There are several hundred known planets, and more being discovered all the time as our instruments get more sophisticated. We're even discovering planets that could potentially have life like the life we find on the Earth. But they are too far away to test for life with current technology.

But based on how fast life took hold on Earth, I'd say there's a fantastically good chance of finding it elsewhere in the universe.

There are 8 planets in the solar system and there are a lot more than 9 planets in the universe however, it is yet to be known rather or not 'God' only created intelligent beings just on this planet. Our technology is not such were we are able to determine such things over the vastness of the cosmos.

There's a lot more than 9, pal... Try a couple of hundred *known* planets, and likely billions more.

And, you'd be asking "why only on Mars" if that's where we lived. Humans are the only intelligence *we know about*. Until we can search every planet in the universe, and find nothing - *then* we can say, "we're the only ones."

There are 8 planets in the solar system. And around 230 planets known in other star systems. As for why God only created life on Earth--how do you know there aren't other intellligent beings out there somewhere?

There are WAY more than 9 planets in the whole universe. You are thinking of our solar system only. The universe has many solar systems. Probably billions in this galaxy alone, with billions of other similar galaxies in the universe.

when they get done screwing up, and fouling up the first planet, when the time comes to move, there are eight more unspoiled planets nearby to choose from
