I am Independent and pretty much know where republicans stand. Where exactly do Dems stand? Besides hating Bush; I get that; I also get that you hate Fox News, you hate Rush Limbaugh, you hate O'Reilly, you hate Hannity and you hate anyone who is republican. Okay I get that. Put the hatred aside; What can I as a Independent look to from the democrats when I am deciding exactly what you stand for?

I must say that the democrats who answered were quite hostile. I am sorry that my question caused you to see me as your enemy. I am just trying to find out where everyone stands. I know republicans stand for certian core values and they never waiver and I admire that. Where the democratic tent is so large I do not know if I should go to the corner that has Al Sharpton or the other corner where Imus is glaring at him!

I don't really know what they stand for exactly. A lot of mixed messages. I would say you can get a good read on their main issues by who the major donors are. I'm not sure if they can afford to keep any major stances as they are shifting to meet their voting needs to take more seats in the Congress and what they hope will be the Presidency. I think their last debate showed that we will all have to wait until they face a moderator that will pin them down on certain issues. However, they will only pick and choose news outlets that are friendly to them. Republicans will at least face MSNBC with Republican-friendly figures like Chris Matthews and Olbermann. Doesn't give one much hope that a Dem can stand up to Iran, N. Korea, Syria, etc... if they can't handle Brit Hume.
I can already tell by the answers posted that you won't receive ONE good answer. Look at the hate that is thrown at you for even daring to ask a legitimate question. It's all they have.

it is not made up that 36% approve of president Bush. extra yet not many extra approve of a Republicans. a extra suitable question is, How can lots of issues be stable, and human beings nonetheless do not approve of Republicans? according to danger, the an excellent form of the above you stated (althought not all properly suited) can not be contributed to Republicans yet extra to financial existence cycles. costs of activity have been extremely low in 2001-2004, consequently business enterprise enhance, homestead appreciation, tax sales, etc. The Republican congress did not do so lots and whilst figures look notably decent, they don't characterize the traditional American. The financial gadget is now slowing, unemployment costs will enhance (alongside with the cycle). Oil costs are at $sixty 3/ barrel with OPEC increasing cuts in production. it will be exciting to visual reveal unit those final 2 years.

Wow, Someone states they have heard one side and wish to hear the other (sounds fair) and suddenly every Dem comes out of the woodwork to not only NOT answer the question but to accuse the asker of hitting for the other team!
One or 2 Dem's tried to answer, but the answer's were vague and some absolutely misinformed...while others just attacked. Why am I even amazed?

-supporting equal opportunity for all Americans - Civil Rights, making sure every child gets an education so they get the opportunity to make a good life for themselves, not about handouts
-social programs as a *safety net*; I believe a lot of social programs do need to be reformed so that people can't take advantage
-reproductive rights
-Stem Cell Research
-Oppose Unilateralism
-Anti-Torture
-Anti-Theocracy
-Right to privacy (hello Patriot Act!)
-Gun Control
-Environmental Protection
-Affordable health care (at least cover children)
-Renewable energy - anti-tax cuts for big oil companies
-Fiscal Responsibility
-Taxes (not just giving tax breaks to the top 1%...)
-Critical thinking (science v. religion perhaps...)
-Strong middle class, lower the gap between the ultra rich and ultra poor
-Diplomacy (inclu. obeying some internation law)
-Compassion; tolerance
If we're "socialists", that's what we would call ourselves! How can people speak to things that they clearly don't understand? If you don't understand something, don't talk about it! Democrats are capitalists, they just believe in a stronger central government in some circumstances! I understand what true Republicans stand for, and I get why someone would be a Republican. What I don't get is neocons who rant about liberal "socialists". Quite simply, you're just showing your ignorance.

I'll tell you what they stand for....high tax's (except for them, they hide their money in tax shelters)...more entitlements(for re election)...weak military (wants to negotiate with those who vow to kill us)...legislation like the grass roots gag order amendment and the fairness doctrine( so the American people can't see what they are up to)...I could go on and on but you get the drift.

Democrats stand for the Constitution and the People it Protects.
They do not stand for elitist and freedom suppression.
They are for World Stability, Social Progress, Economic Progress, and Technological Progress.
They have hopes and dreams that the whole World and all people can benefit from advancements in Medicine and Technology.
They stand for strong US Defense and only appropriate US Offense.
They believe that you can't fight a tactic but you can fight an enemy.
They don't believe in throwing massive amounts of borrowed money at the wrong solution for a problem.
They do believe in throwing massive amounts of "REAL" money at the right solution for a problem.
What do you stand for?

You are as independent as O'Reilly is fair and balanced.
Edit: Oh btw, I am registered as an independent, not a republican or democrat.

Basically, the Dems feel that you are too stupid to think for yourself therefore let us take care of you for life and when time comes to vote, remember who your caregiver is.
