Why do women tend to fake having orgasm?

Most women can't have an orgasm without direct stimulation. You don't get direct stimulation via normal sex. But some women think that there is something wrong with them if they can't orgasm so they fake it to appear normal. Other women do it to help the man's ego (why, I'll never know). Other women do it because sex is routine and boring and they just want it over with.

I don't "tend" to fake at all. I've faked maybe 3 or 4 times since we've been together. The reason was always that I was too tired and I knew it wasn't happening. Why make him feel bad about it when things are usually just fine. It was me, not anything he was doing. I figure we've had sex about 3000 times if not more. I think 3 or 4 fakes is perfectly normal.

I do it from time to time with my husband. It does not mean the sex is bad it's just that he's very sensitive and likes for me to have an orgasm each time usually, unfortunately there are times when I'm not in the mood so rather than denying my husband sex or making him feel badly about not exciting me I just fake it. Mostly I do have them but there are times when I'm tired and want to get it over with. I personally don't feel it necessary to have an orgasm every time I have sex. Some times I'm just too distracted to concentrate on having one.

I have never done that, the man either gives me an orgasm--or I will give one to myself!!!! Not worth the work to fake one!! Besides why live a lie--then they will think that they are all that when they aren't and it will end up being a mess when you are dissatisfied with the sex to the point the you don't want it, you argue, or you go looking elsewhere for it!!

i don't know anyone who fake's an orgasm. i never have. i either have one or i don't. why would someone feel the need to fake it? if the man they are with needs to have his ego boosted so badly they need to be with someone else.
edit- this is kind of funny actually. the men who are with the women who fake must have never had a woman orgasm when he's inside of her or he would know she's faking it. the walls of the vagina contract and can squeeze the penis when a women orgasms. it's usually obvious to a well trained partner if his women has faked it..

We fake when we feel that we won't get off, for me it's when my happy trust feeling is broken, I still get turned on, but I can't let myself really go with the feeling I keep having a thought of whatever is broken. So for me, if I'm not comfy in the relation, I really can't orgasm. But I can rock one out for myself anytime. :)

I don't know. I think it is stupid. Why reward poor performance? I have never faked an orgasm. If I don't like what he is doing why would I want to encourage more of it?!

Because they want their partner to feel manly and think they satisfied her.

This leads to disaster later in the relationship though, because the girl gets tired of faking an orgasm rather than actually having it. The man THINKS he's doing the right thing, but since the girl never told him how she likes things done, he never really gets it right.

You know, I'm thinking it's a myth or urban legend that a lot of women do this. I really don't think the majority of women do this, it would be just too detrimental to the intimacy with your husband.
