What do you think of someone who gets a loan to buy a bigger boat, but won't pay someone ₤1500 to tidy up and groom 3 acre land. (he says it's too much money). He keeps saying he's going to work to work on it, but never does.

Sounds like he has his priorities screwed up. Are the boat and the land in the same state/place? Perhaps he goes for the boat for instant gratification and to show off to friends and neighbors what a big shot he may think he is. Is the land a second home or investment property in a different state that he doesn't have to look at on a daily basis?

Some guys are really particular about someone else working on their land, even though they don't want to do it themselves. I'd lay down the law and say, "Either YOU do it, or I'm hiring someone to do it! If YOU do it, you can have your boat, if not, the money goes to a landscaping company and NO boat!"

I wish you well!

It means he would rather work on his boat, and the garden is not a priority. See if you can get him to commit to a day and time to work on the garden. That works with my hubby, who won't pay someone to do what he can do, eventually.

He should put the money towards a riding lawnmower that way he gets a new toy and he can do the work. So you do not have to hire someone to come and do it everytime.

Tell him if he doesn't want to take care of his property that you want to get something smaller so you can atleast take care of it if he cant.

He won't pay the money cause cleaning the garden isn't his priority right now, it's yours. He needs to get his priority's straight.
