I think they should be legal....Because the 'bad guys' are going to have weapons whether they are legal or not, and the innocent people wouldnt be able to protect themselves from the 'bad guys' with guns.

Sure, firearms for hunting, yes. It's a legitimate sport. Assault rifles and pistols are unnecessary. They are only necessary to defend against others who are wielding the same weapons. Ban them, and start removing them one by one.
There is no reason police officers should be exposed to the level of danger that they are exposed to, simply so that that some individuals can have an oozie in their gun case.
The other solution, civilian armories and target ranges. Let folks come in, rent a pistol and fire for an afternoon, or an ar-15, or whatever they want to shoot. Then they check it back in and leave unarmed. Great way to protect the hobby and keep guns off the street, and a great beginning for a country that doesn't currently allow homeowners to carry weapons.

I'm not sure of the exact links but history has proven what happens to a country when firearms are limited or banned...
Just look up the following...Hitler, Khadafi, Stalin, or Castro.
Also, there aren't many links to common sense...
>If you outlaw firearms, only the outlaws will have them.
Most recent proof of laws getting in the way...VT.
Law: No firearms withing 1000 feet of a school.
Problem: NO criminal will change his mind because of this law AND he will know that there will be NO resistance to a shooting spree.
Do you think a criminal will rob a store if he thinks that everyone inside is armed also?

the traditional attribute of a free man - in _every_ culture on earth - was the right to bear weapons.
Therefore a country should NEVER de-legalise weapons/fire arms. Unless the rulers intend to treat the people as serfs and slaves.
If the citizens are the ones who are the backbone of the country, then the country has nothing to fear from armed citizens.

yes, firearms are what keep you safe. the second amendment was designed to keep the government from becoming to powerful. look at the statistics, as soon as guns are taken away from citizens, crime goes up. criminals are more likely to strike an unarmed opponent. as soon as britain took away guns, their crime rate sky-rocketed. our own capital has a huge crime rate, not just what the politicians are doing. so, yes, a country should allow guns.

if a country de-leagalizes firearms, it is asking for trouble. Criminals will get their hands on guns, weather they are legal or not. How can anybody protect themselves?
