What about 'frog style'?

Just to clarify things a triathlon is three events: a swim, a cycling route and a running route. The swimming is one big swim and there's no certain points where you need to change strokes.

As for the swim itself there's basically anything allowed. Freestyle is the most common obviously and breaststroke is also used, if you do it right it can actually save a lot of energy as well as the sidestroke. Backstroke is occasionally used but of course you have to flip over once in a while to make sure you're going in the right direction. Obviously butterfly is the least used stroke since it takes up the most energy but really you just swim what you want to; you won't be DQed as long as you're swimming and not doing anything bad.

If you mean a triathlon, then the swim is open to any style. Breastroke is very common, especially for beginners and those who are not highly competitive. I once swam backstroke because I got bored. I've seen people do soem sidestroke but mostly free and breast. However, you can use whatever stroke you like.

Hope this helps!
