I put this in the music category because I have seen the most offenses in this category. Seriously, is it really so hard to type out the extra 3 keystrokes in people (ppl)? The two keystrokes in anyone (any1)? These are just the simple ones off the top of my head. There are instances where it takes me a couple of minutes to decode it. I remember the first time I saw TTYS it took me like 10 minutes to figure out what it meant. It's everywhere. I'm not some tightwad either. I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I just don't understand. What is so hard about typing out actual words?

It's like the way people like to buy stuff on sale. They see a sign that says 50% off and they get excited. So in the same way, they want to type "people" at 50% off and it ends up as "ppl". Or "anyone" at 50% off is "ne1". When you think of it as saving two or three keystrokes, you're missing the "50% off" aspect of it. Some people even type "I" as "i" which is only maybe 10% off, but, u kno, ppl jes luv th idea of saving a lil bit here and there.

I am with you on that one. I think it is just laziness. I wonder why people don't spell very well. The only reason that I ever use the shortened words is when I am sending a text message because you only get so many characters. By the way I have no idea what TTYS means and I am not a tight wade either.

To me, slang is very nicely yet all of the misspelled words and shorthand annoy me. they don't in spite of the undeniable fact that make my back tooth harm, or the different portion of my physique. i've got faith that is worse with texting nevertheless. you ought to wager what somebody substitute into attempting to assert with the aid of staring at what different words ought to be spelled with those numbers. solid success alongside with your question!

I don't know but it drives me crazy. I have never text messaged, but when people are writing, I think they should write, not text. I do worry about our language and actually have asked a question about it. I am also appalled over the bad spelling, especially when spell check is available.

I completely agree. Typing is faster than writing longhand, but people still feel the need to find shortcuts and use internet speak or text speak. I find it really difficult to decipher.
I don't know why people don't realise that it makes them look unintelligent.

It's either laziness or illiteracy...or both...some people have spelling issues so they abbreviate the word to mask their issues...others type too quickly without really knowing how to type, hence the abbreviations.

For people who never learned to touch-type, yes, it really is hard to type the entire word.

I was really glad to read this because I always type out the full words. I do this to practice my spelling and grammer. I always thought people thought I wasn't with it. Thanks for making my day anyways lol!
