I would advise people who are not confident in their spelling to:
- always work with a dictionary
- always proof read work before a spell check
- then carry out a spell check
- then print out your work and proof read again
- carry out another spell check
- you can then correct outstanding spelling mistakes by marking them on the print out before spell checking again as sometimes spelling errors are not picked up by the computer
- finally, proof read on screen making necessary corrections before printing out the final product.
(hope this helps you)

Spell out words to yourself constantly. When you hear, or use a big word, think about it's spelling in your head. You might even want to carry a small pocket dictionary with you. Then when you come across a word you are not sure how to spell, you can look it up.

Write, write, write. Look up ANY word you are unsure about. Have someone proofread what you write.
You could also transcribe books that you own because then you would see the correct spellings and write them at the same time. That's a very good way to learn.
