Someone who has second thoughts or someone who is in serious trouble that he cannot tell you about, either because he is protecting you or for some less noble reason.
But this is all presuming that your assessment of avoidance is correct. You ought to go through it with your mother or father or brother or sister and see if they think that you are just being very needy, because love does do strange things to us all.

He's a joker, most likely also a player! This happened to me once on a New Years eve at a party, infront of everyone there, like 30 to 50 people, he was on one leg and all and had me in tears, I said yes, why not we were living together -later that night I heard everyone laughing and how I feel for it - I wondered if I was really hearing what I was hearing and yes I was! Later when I couldn't find him I was told he was having s_x with their stripper friend that was there. The next day he just kept on saying oh grow up like I'd marry you and whats your problem shut up' and he was treating me just like it was my fault -it was a just a joke and a very mean one at that! Everyone there was laughing at me!!! I really thought he was serious and really wanted to be with me. Needless to say I left him very soon after that, I was so humiliated!

The Bubonic kind :)

Seriously...he might just be overwhelmed with work, having a problem with someone in his family or co/worker, or worse case scenario...having some jitters about getting married.

Ask him what's up. It's the only way you will know.

Are you already married? If so, you need to be asking him this question and telling him you are not happy. If you are not already married, avoid him, too.
