Employee that unscrews bolts in table at work -

How disgruntled is an employee that unscrews the bolts in the table of the conference room?

Our conference table collapsed on us during a meeting. Luckily no one was really injured although one woman had it land on her knee.

It was a calculated act as the table grew more and more wobbly with each meeting until it finally collapsed - now they use the "good" half for meetings!

We have suspicision that one of our very passive aggressive employees did this, but have no proof.

Seriously, if you're that unhappy, wouldn't you just quit?

Does anyone have any other examples of disgruntled employees in the workplace?

Thanks in advance!

Actually, thats kind of funny. While it maybe unprofessional, theres a good chance it carried no malicious intent. Loosening the bolts on the bosses chair I think would be more passive aggressive, this just sounds like a practical joke. It may be out of place in the work place, but it sure sounds like it would have been funny.

How overworked are all of you that the table got more and more wobbley without anyone checking to see what was wrong with it? Or do you just get paid too much to lay under a table and take a quick look?

It's not always easy to "just find another job". This much work would require help to pull it off undiscovered. Take a long look at how you and the other higher ups treat the rest of the employees.
Remember, they are people w/ families, just like you, and deserve respect.

Maybe it was someone who thought it would be funny. Think about if you have anyone who is a jokster at work, someone who likes to play games with people. This person is either mentally unstable or thinks he's a comedian. Just be careful and check your chair before sitting down, etc. If you think you know who this is you should quietly report them before they really injure someone.

No, I think your example takes the cake. I hope you find the person.

FYI - it would probably be possible to fingerprint the bottom of the table - since the person who did it would anchor his other fingers to the underside while unscrewing the screws.

Why did nobody tighten it as it got looser? Maybe this employee is getting blamed for a lack of action on everybody's part.

Seriously, that employee needs help.

I agree if you are that unhappy with your job, then find another one. Instead of doing petty and childish pranks.
