I asked this question a few days ago, and still cannot figure out what could cause this problem!!! I am starting a small informational website... just getting started with still alot of dead links etc. I am new to this but seem to be figuring it out. My problem right now is that several people tell me there is 'overlapping' and double lines on my website. When I look at it from my pc... and my husbands, it appears perfect. I tried using IE and Firefox, which is what other people told me they were viewing it with. Any help is appreciated! It is hard for me to fix a problem that I cannot see on my end! Oh, and I am using Yahoo Sitebuilder. The address is:
http://www.swapbayouself.com
Does this website appear 'normal' to anyone? Or is it messed up when you look at it? I tried re-doing the homepage with a different font and background... please tell me if this has fixed the problem. Thanks again.

There is a whole lot going on here.
And yes, I do see the font doubling up on itself.
First of all, I noticed you are using a TON of absolute positioning for just basic elements on the page. That is not necessary at all, and is probably causing many of your errors. Browsers read that attribute so differently, that it is hard to use it.
But to even begin to help, I'd have to write the whole page of code myself. But the design is - hmmm, sort of old school. Look at the code of the site below. I designed and wrote it.

It looks a right mess on my PC with overwritten text and new lines (like via
) where they shouldn’t be. I copied a paragraph to one of my HTML pages and that was also a mess. It seems to me that there is too much formatting specification and this is not compatible with the default character sets in the browser. Example:
style="position:absolute; left:160;top:480; width:461;height:137; + text
I increased the width and that got rid of false new lines.
I wonder if anyone else has never heard of the Berling Antiqua font used.

Ask the people what screen resolution they are using. Something that looks fine on a screen that is 1024 pixel across may be jumbled on a screen that is only 800 pixels across.
You can test by changing your own screen resolution or resizing your window.
You can often resolve the issue by putting the entire web page inside a table that you specifically set to a size (such as 800 or 1024). Then different screen resolutions can not change the layout.

it all depends on what program you use for the website like if your using dreamweaver to create your own website from scratch then you shouldnt have this problem but if you are using a premade site like geocities then i can see why you have this promblem those arnt good sites to use try anglefire.com

Messed up.. It looks like you are assuming a different default font size than some of us are using.
