"In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

1. The "check" is equality

2. The American dream is a family, affordable home, and the oppurtunity to make a comfortable living to be able to create a "good life".

3. The main principle of the Declaration of Independence is that all (not just white) men are created equal and have certain rights such as life, liberty and the persuit of happiness.

4.Martin Luther King's dream was to be in a world where a man was judged by his character not by the color of his skin.

"What is the main principal of the declaration of Independence?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence
Could it be this:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal"

What is the American Dream?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Dream

"What was Martin Luther King's dream?"

Sounds like you quoted Martin's dream:
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

Please read your passages... and apply some critical thinking. I'm not sure I'm correct, but at face value this sounds like the answers.

The check is the promise of freedom made in Revolutionary times African Americans were trying to "cash".

The American Dream is to do what you want where you want. have the job and house you want and not be limited and excluded by your race.

The main principle of the DOI is that all men are created equal with the same rights. Black men are equal to white and should have the same rights to the things whites do.

MLK's dream was to live in a world where people are not judged and excluded because of their colour but judged by their morals and character instead.
