I have this habit of going through nearly every question I read and giving a thumbs-up to all the good answers, and some thumbs-down to the offensive ones. What other people think (whether they gave thumbs-up/down or not) doesn't really influence me...

No, I concentrate soley on the question and my opinion is the only one I consider when I give an answer.
If I was swayed by other peoples votes, I would consider myself not opinionated enough to give an answer to the question in the first place. I think the frankest and most clarified answers come from people who give own opinions that are not biased or swayed in any way.
