One Friend
I always thought you were the best
I guess I always will.
I always felt that we were blessed,
And I feel that way, still.
Sometimes we took the hard road,
But we always saw it through.
If I had only one friend left,
I'd want it to be you.
Sometimes the world was on our side;
Sometimes it wasn't fair.
Sometimes it gave a helping hand;
Sometimes we didn't care.
'Cause when we were together,
It made the dream come true.
If I had only one friend left,
I'd want it to be you.
Someone who understands me,
And knows me inside out.
And helps keep me together,
And believes without a doubt,
That I could move a mountain:
Someone to tell it to.
If I had only one friend left,
I'd want it to be you.
Instrumental Break.
'Cause when we were together,
It made the dream come true.
If I had only one friend left,
I'd want it to be you.
Someone who understands me,
And knows me inside out.
And helps keep me together,
And believes without a doubt,
That I could move a mountain:
Someone to tell it to.
If I had only one friend left,
I'd want it to be you.

Look up Anthony Smith he is a singer/songwriter he wrote and recorded an earlier version of Tracy Lawrence's "Metropolis". He has a song on his only album called "That's what brothers do". I think its perfect if you can find it!! GOOD LUCK!!

If you're wanting one about brothers and don't mind going "back in the day" you can do Keith Whitley's "Brotherly Love"
As for the Rascal Flatts idea above, the only one I can think of is "Me & My Gang"

"I miss my friend" from Darrel Worley
I miss the look of surrender in your eyes
The way your soft brown hair would fall
I miss the power of your kiss when we made love
But baby most of all
I miss my friend
The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with
The one who knew just what to say to make me laugh again
And let the light back in
I miss my friend
I miss the colors that you brought into my life
Your golden smile, those blue-green eyes
I miss your gentle voice in lonely times like now
Saying itll be alright
I miss my friend
The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with
The one who knew just what to say to make me laugh again
And let the light back in
I miss my friend
I miss those times
I miss those nights
I even miss the silly fights
The making up
The morning talks
And those late afternoon walks
I miss my friend
The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with

i hate country but... try rascal flatts, i think they have some songs about brothers or best friends. check out their lyrics from a lyrics site and just go through those songs. if not, i'm sure the "oh brother, where art thou?" soundtrack might have a song with that theme and is country. check the soundtrack listing out. goodluck!
